Twenty-two years after Jurassic Park was overrun by cloned dinosaurs on the Central American island of Isla Nublar, a new park, Jurassic World, has become a successful resort. The Masrani Global Corporation – owner of the genetics company InGen that creates the dinosaurs – has been operating the park on the same island for the past ten years. Brothers Zach and Gray Mitchell visit Jurassic World to see their aunt Claire Dearing, the park’s operations manager. Claire, a busy workaholic, assigns her assistant to be their guide, but the boys evade her and explore the resort on their own.

Owen Grady, a Navy veteran, has been researching the intelligence of the park’s Velociraptors. InGen security chief Vic Hoskins believes the raptors should be trained for military use despite Owen’s objections. Park owner Simon Masrani has Owen evaluate the paddock of the park’s new hybrid dinosaur, Indominus‍ rex, before the attraction opens. Owen warns Claire about the danger of raising Indominus in isolation, pointing out its lack of socialization with other animals. When the staff learns that the Indominus appears to have escaped its paddock, Owen and two others enter the enclosure. Able to camouflage itself and mask its heat signature, the Indominus suddenly appears and devours Owen’s companions before escaping into the island’s interior. Owen orders the Indominus to be killed, but Masrani instead sends a specialized unit to capture it. When most of the unit is killed, Claire orders the evacuation of the island’s northern sector.

While exploring in a gyrosphere ride, Zach and Gray enter a restricted area. The nearby Indominus attacks and destroys their sphere, but both manage to escape to the ruins of the original Jurassic Park visitor center. They repair an old Jeep Wrangler and drive back to the park resort. While Claire and Owen are searching for the boys, they encounter the Indominus and barely escape themselves. Masrani and two troopers hunt the Indominus by helicopter, but when the Indominus smashes into the park’s aviary to escape gunfire, it releases a flock of pterosaurs that collide with the helicopter, causing it to crash. Gray and Zach eventually find Owen and Claire at the resort as armed personnel subdue the pterosaurs with tranquilizers.

Assuming command, Hoskins orders that the raptors be used to track the Indominus; Owen is forced to accept Hoskins’ plan and lead the raptors. Upon reaching the Indominus, the dinosaurs begin communicating with one another. Owen realizes that the Indominus includes raptor DNA, and it becomes the raptor pack’s new alpha, taking command away from Owen. Hoskins arranges for chief geneticist Dr. Henry Wu to flee the island by helicopter with dinosaur embryos, in order to protect his research. Owen, Claire, and the boys find Hoskins at the lab packing up more embryos. Hoskins reveals his plan to create miniature versions of the Indominus for use as weapons, but a raptor breaks in and kills him.

Owen reestablishes his bond with the raptors before the Indominus reappears. The raptors attack, but are all seemingly killed. Claire releases the park’s Tyrannosaurus rex and lures it into a battle with the Indominus. The T. rex is overpowered, but before the Indominus can kill it, a surviving raptor joins the attack. The raptor and T. rex force the overwhelmed Indominus toward the lagoon, where it is dragged underwater by a Mosasaurus. Isla Nublar is once again abandoned, and the survivors are evacuated to the mainland. Zach and Gray are reunited with their parents.Jurassic World is an incredibly entertaining long-awaited sequel. I had a lot of fun watching it. It rejuvenated the franchise in a way the previous sequels couldn’t.

Cassie Sullivan, armed with an M4 carbine, emerges from the woods to raid an abandoned gas station. Upon entering, she hears a male voice calling for help. While searching the store, she hears a man, who points a gun at her, but they each put their weapons down. His hand is under his jacket and as he takes it out, she sees a glint of metal and kills him. He was holding a crucifix and the screen cuts to black to show her backstory.

At home, the news reports a strange, city-sized hovering structure over their home in Ohio, containing invading extraterrestrials referred to as “The Others”. Ten days later The Others cut the power off, causing Cassie’s classmates’ cars to crash into each other and a plane to fall from the sky. The Second Wave sees The Others drop a large metal rod on to the Earth’s fault lines causing massive tsunamis to kill those living in coastal cities. While at a new refuge location, Cassie and her younger brother Sammy go to collect water as the area is struck by earthquakes and floods, and they climb a tree to avoid the flood.

For the Third Wave, The Others weaponize a strain of avian flu using three million birds as carriers of the virus. Cassie then reunites with her mother, Lisa. Cassie’s mother warns her to take her brother to safety to avoid the plague. Cassie’s mother then dies from the plague and her family create a memorial in their backyard.

In search of a safe community, Cassie leaves home with her father and brother and stumbles upon a refugee camp in the jungle. A few days later, an army unit rolls into the camp and places all of the children on a bus. The commander claims that there is an imminent threat and that they want to take the children to a safe place before coming back for the adults. Cassie gets separated from Sam, and she watches as her father and other survivors are massacred by the army after being told they would never see their children again. Cassie scavenges her way toward the base to find her brother, but is shot in the leg by an unseen enemy and passes out. Seven days later, Cassie wakes up and meets Evan Walker, who saved her. Cassie learns that he is an Other in humanoid form. She leaves on her own to go find Sam, but not before Evan tells her that Colonel Vosch and the Military are actually Others, and that the Fifth Wave would be human children, tricked into eliminating the remaining survivors.

The only thing that keeps Cassie going is the hope that she can save her brother from the training camp established by the Military at the captured Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Ben Parish and her brother are in the same squad and Ben learns of The Others’ plans. Evan tells Cassie and Ben to go find Sam before he blows up the training facility. The Others are in the process of evacuating and deploying the children to other cities. Evan sets off the explosives and destroys the military facility with him. Cassie, Ben, and Sam manage to escape with a little help from squad member Ringer. But most of the Others, including their leader Colonel Vosch, manage to escape too and transport their child soldiers for places elsewhere. In the final scene, Ben and his squad are enjoying their evening meal with Cassie, who ponder hope as humanity’s driving force for survival.

Chloe Moretz was great in the main role. The whole apocalypse scenario was well done and there were a couple of twists and you could pretty much see coming but they were still well done. The only problem for me was the sudden ending which resolved a few things but obviously was intended to spark a sequel. So if you like apocalypse movies and or Chloe Moretz you should enjoy it.

A NEW KIND OF CHRISTMAS

GUEST CAST
Jaime Pressly (Mom)
Rick Pasqualone (Hop)

Mel’s sister, Meredith (Jaime Pressly), comes home from prison on furlough to celebrate Christmas with the kids and Mel, and seems unruffled by Joe’s obvious animosity towards her.

Jaime Pressly adds a new dynamic to the characters, sadly this was the only time she guest starred in the shows for season run. It was good to finally see the character as she had been mentioned on the shoe countless times. all in all a good Christmas episode to what has become a missed show.

A MELANIE AND JOSIAH CHRISTMAS

GUEST CAST
Christopher Rich (Perception)
Trevor Donovan (Savages)
Michael Rider (Road House)
Mel and Joe are about to celebrate their first Christmas as a married couple, which leads to a competition over whose family ornament should take the top spot on the tree. Both Mel and Joe have a flashback set in southern North America in the 1800s.

Now this Christmas episode is one of the most bizarre having Melissa tell a story of her alleged ancestors is intriguing  though it does seem a little out of place but then so did the Halloween episode. This became the final Christmas episode as the show was let go after season 4.

A fun episode, plus the Sabrina references were funny to anyone who had watched that show.

WITCH CAME FIRST

Mel’s doctor drops by on Halloween to convince Mel she was once a teenage witch and needs to battle the evil Dark Lord. At first Mel and Joe don’t believe her, but then Joe’s Halloween robot comes to life, and Mel accidentally turns Lennox into a cat. Joe begins to show a darker side of himself and Mel tries to trigger his memory to get the ghoul out of his body.

This was excellent reunion for Melissa Joan Hart and Beth Broderick, plus the numerous Sabrina references were great, the whole was is it real or was it  a dream thing is funny as it lets the audience decide which is which.
