lego-marvel-super-heroes-maximum-overload-post-6Ultron is somehow able to infect Tony Stark and turns Iron Man into his puppet, causing all sorts of trouble in Avengers Tower before he takes off. The Avengers follow close, and find out that Yellow Jacket, Hydra, and Ultron are working together to destroy Marvel’s greatest heroes which officially includes Hulk, Cap, Vision, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Thor, Black Widow, and minus Iron Man whom is still under Ultron’s control. Vision gets in Iron Man’s head and finds out that Thor has to shock Stark to relinquish Ultron’s control. The God of Thunder does just that, and the Avengers are reunited. Spider-Man and Iron Spidey capture Yellow Jacket and get some answers to some plans going down, and a battle seems apparent. When the Avengers show up to their tower, Ultron is doing a fair amount of damage, and things get worse when he creates a robot of himself out of his minions to destroy the team once and for all. Fortunately, Ant-Man is able to get inside of Ultron’s head and make dis-assembly requred leaving the Avengers to welcome their newest member…Falcon!
screen-shot-2015-11-12-at-4-07-06-pmSimilar to the Droid Tales mini-series, Disney premieres a Marvel parody of an Avengers: Age of Ultron spin-off. Unlike Droid Tales, this isn’t nearly as funny nor gag-heavy. The dialogue was rife with ingredients that was supposed to make you remember the actors from the movie, but instead it just causes headaches. However, fans of cameos should be ecstatic as some of our fabled Web Warriors show up along with Falcon at the end. Moreover, we get a decent amount of the most recent Avenger’s lineup Ant-Man and his nemesis Yellow Jacket, though it’s unclear how Von Strucker came back to life. If you are a fan of Marvel or Lego it’s worth checking out.

lego-marvel-super-heroes-maximum-overload-post-6The mischievous Loki challenges the Marvel Super Heroes yet again. But this time, he’s cast a snowball-themed spell that has Norn Frost in it to “Overload” various villains. At a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. base in New Jersey, Doctor Octopus raids it in order to obtain the Beta Burst Missile. Using the Norn Frost obtained by his Chitauri minion, Loki “overloads” Doctor Octopus. In Manhattan, Nick Fury calls upon Spider-Man to help defeat Doctor Octopus. Before Doctor Octopus can use the Beta Burst Missile on the trapped S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents, Spider-Man arrives and tricks Doctor Octopus into shocking himself on a nearby power generator. The next morning, Spider-Man brings a bound Doctor Octopus back to Manhattan in a truck upon running out of web fluid on the Garden State Parkway. Nick Fury takes Doctor Octopus to be locked up as Spider-Man is left walking back to Queens, New York. Loki is not pleased that his Doctor Octopus “Overload” was defeated and vows that it’s not over.

Some time later, news articles are shown about the “Overloads” like the rise of the Red Skull “Overload,” the Wizard “Overload” forming the Frightful Sixteen which outnumbers the Fantastic Four, and the Green Goblin “Overload.” J. Jonah Jameson reports on the “Overloads” and claims that Spider-Man is behind this. Loki then uses the Norn Frost on Venom since he is a creature worth overloading. Appearing near the stand of the Hot Dog Vendor, Venom is overloaded as Loki commands Venom to attack Spider-Man. Their fight takes them through the Daily Bugle much to the dismay of J. Jonah Jameson. Spider-Man manages to defeat Venom by getting one of Venom’s tendrils into the Linotype machine where Venom ends up flattened onto a bunch of newspapers. Venom’s body is taken away by Nick Fury, Captain America, and Wolverine. As Spider-Man swings away from the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson rants about his newsroom getting trashed as he vows to get Spider-Man for this. Spider-Man runs out of web fluid and falls into a dumpster leaving him to walk back to Queens again.

While reprimanding his Chitauri henchman for sitting in his chair, Loki sees a helicopter carrying Mandarin flying to Tony Stark’s Malibu mansion to attack it. Loki then throws the Norn Frost at Mandarin who then prepares to attack. Iron Man saves Pepper Potts by getting her into an Iron Man armor. Iron Man then begins to fight Mandarin. As Loki plans to overload Mandarin further, his Chitauri minion slips and causes the Norn Frosts to fall into the nearby crevices. Iron Man uses his left glove to knock Mandarin out of his helicopter as he is grabbed by Falcon who takes Mandarin to the Helicarrier. Iron Man is then helped out of the rubble by his left glove before leaving with Pepper to eat out somewhere. Spider-Man suddenly finds himself at an offshore oil platform wondering how he got there. While his Scrying Mirror is getting fixed, Loki reaches out with his mind where he finds Iron Man and Iron Fist looking for Abomination. Loki finds Abomination on top of a passing airplane as he overloads Abomination. Upon Abomination breaking the airplane, Iron Man and Iron Fist rescue the passengers and land them safely on the offshore oil platform while Hulk arrives to fight Abomination. With help from Iron Fist, Hulk knocks Abomination into the ocean. When Loki plans to overload Hulk to serve him, Hulk notices his floating eyes and punches it as Loki feels the pain while getting a black eye.

Loki declares that his plans are almost complete as his Chitauri minions sweep the floor. On the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, Wolverine, Captain America, and Black Widow do a roll-call on the captive supervillains Doctor Octopus, Venom, Abomination, Mandarin, Red Skull, and Wizard. Loki then commands the supervillains to arise as they all end up overloaded again while being ordered to hop. The constant hopping causes the Helicarrier to fall onto Tony Stark’s rebuilt mansion. The supervillains then go on a rampage as Iron Man, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Captain America, Wolverine, and Hulk fight them. Thor arrives with Spider-Man upon finding him whining outside Avengers Tower. Spider-Man claims that he was angsting. Upon taking down Doctor Octopus, Thor traces the Norn Frost back to Loki. Thor brings Iron Man and Spider-Man to Asgard to confront Loki while the others fight the supervillains.

Upon the Chitauri minions fixing the Scrying Mirror, Loki views it and sees Thor, Iron Man, and Spider-Man approaching his lair. Upon the arrival of Thor, Iron Man, and Spider-Man, Loki eats all the Norn Frost in the possession of one of his Chitauri minions and fights them. After throwing Spider-Man into a wall, Loki states to Iron Man and Thor that he is meddling in the affairs of Earth and take the throne of Asgard (Loki whispered that part which the Chitauri minion said out loud). Upon Loki slipping, Thor throws Mjolnir at Loki as he hangs over the crevasse. Thor then demands that Loki removes his enchantment and vow to never disturb the peace of Midgard under the threat of the hammer noogie. Loki surrenders where the Norn Frost’s enchantment wears off enabling the supervillains to be defeated. Thor then plans to tell Odin what Loki was doing. Loki begs for Thor not to tell their father or to tell him that he was watching the Scrying Mirror since Odin took away his scrying privelages 3 centuries ago. After Thor, Iron Man, and Spider-Man leave, Loki changes the channel on the Scrying Mirror before Hulk can do another attack on him.

On the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier, the supervillains are locked up as they plan their revenge. On the deck of the Helicarrier, it was mentioned that Iron Man’s mansion has been repaired and the Helicarrier is back on the air. To get the angst out of Spider-Man, Nick Fury gives Spider-Man a S.H.I.E.L.D. Security Card and a Spider-Bike. As Spider-Man rides the web line off the Helicarrier, the superheroes celebrate their victory. As the Helicarrier takes off, the web line breaks causing Spider-Man and the Spider-Bike to fall. In the post-credits, J. Jonah Jameson is visiting the Hot Dog Vendor’s cart ordering a hot dog from him. Spider-Man lands safely on the nearby streets as his Spider-Bike falls on the Hot Dog Vendor’s cart. Getting mustard on him from the resulting incident, J. Jonah Jameson states that Spider-Man must be responsible as Spider-Man sneaks away.image_39e1ade4The animation is pretty amazing and one of the best Lego films I have seen with great attention to detail the effects are pretty good as well it just nice that they took the time to make the animation work and it’s better when you watch it in High Definition to better enjoy the attention of the art work It just a good film that I think the family would enjoy and fans of Lego and Marvel

Three years after saving the Lego Universe with Emmet and Wyldstyle, Batman continues fighting crime in Gotham City. During a mission to prevent The Joker from destroying the city, Batman hurts his arch-rival’s feelings by telling him he is not as important in his life as he thinks he is, leading to the Joker to desire seeking the ultimate revenge on him.
The following day, Batman attends the city’s winter gala as his alter ego, Bruce Wayne, to celebrate the retirement of Commissioner Gordon and the ascension of his daughter Barbara as Gotham’s new police commissioner, but is infuriated when she announces her plans to restructure the city’s police to function without the need of Batman. The Joker crashes the party with the rest of Gotham City’s villains, but has all of them surrender to the police. Despite realizing that this makes him no longer relevant to the city’s safety, Batman suspects his arch-rival is up to something and decides to stop him by banishing him into the Phantom Zone, a prison for some of the most dangerous villains in the Lego Universe.
Before he can make plans to acquire the Phantom Zone Projector that Superman uses, Alfred intervenes and advises him to take charge of Dick Grayson, whom Bruce had unwittingly adopted as his ward during the gala to which he eventually agrees and fosters Dick as Robin. The pair manage to recover the Projector from the Fortress of Solitude, before breaking into Arkham Asylum and using it on the Joker. Annoyed at his reckless actions and suspecting that the Joker wanted this to happen, Barbara locks up Batman and Robin. While the Projector is being seized as evidence, Harley Quinn steals it back and uses it to free the Joker, who unleashes the villains trapped within the Phantom Zone to cause havoc upon Gotham, including Lord Voldemort, King Kong, Sauron, the Wicked Witch of the West, Medusa, Agent Smith and his clones, the Daleks, and the Kraken.
Realizing that the city does still need him, Barbara releases Batman and Robin and reluctantly teams up with them as “Batgirl” to stop the Joker, with the team joined by Alfred. Batman soon finds himself able to trust and rely on the others, allowing them to defeat Sauron, but upon reaching Wayne Island, he ditches the team out of fear of losing them like his parents, before confronting Joker alone. Upon seeing that the Batman will never change, Joker zaps him to the Phantom Zone, before stealing the Batcave’s stash of confiscated bombs and heading for the city’s Energy Facility. Arriving in the Phantom Zone, Batman witnesses the harm he has caused to everyone because of his selfishness and slowly accepts his greatest fear when Robin, Barbara and Alfred decide to come to his aid. Making a deal with the Phantom Zone’s gatekeeper, Phyllis, to bring back all the villains in exchange for returning to Gotham City, Batman arrives to save the trio and admits to them his mistakes, requesting their help to save the day.
Seeking to stop Joker from setting off the bombs beneath the Energy Facility, thus causing the plates beneath Gotham to come apart and send the city into the infinite abyss, Batman and his allies team up with the city’s regular list of villains, after they had felt neglected by Joker, with the group successfully sending back the escaped villains to the Phantom Zone. However, Batman fails to reach the bombs in time, the detonation causing the city to split apart. Realizing how to stop the city from being destroyed, Batman reluctantly convinces Joker that he is the reason for being the hero he is, and working together alongside Batman’s friends, the villains, and the city’s inhabitants, chain link themselves together, reconnecting the city’s plates and saving Gotham City.
With the city saved, Batman prepares to be taken back into the Phantom Zone to fulfill his bargain with Phyllis, only to be rejected by the gatekeeper who chooses to let him remain after she saw how much he had changed in order to save everyone. Batman allows the Joker and the rest of his rogues gallery to escape with the confidence that whenever they return, then they’ll be no match for the combined team of himself, Robin, Batgirl, and Alfred.Overall, this is a very enjoyable movie with a gripping story, fantastic animation that tops its predecessor and clever humor. I definitely recommend giving this a watch if you’re a fan of The Lego Movie.

Batman gives the viewer a brief reminiscent of his early days as a crime fighter, his time with Robin, how he became Nightwing and how a new Robin came to be. In the present day, Batman and Robin begin chasing after Penguin and Harley Quinn and succeed in entrapping Penguin in a magnetic cage.

After Harley and Poison Ivy are defeated, Batman leaves Robin with the defeated criminals and chases after a criminal who resembles a ninja. After cornering the criminal in an alleyway, Batman is able to deduce that the criminal is Nightwing, who used the ninja costume to try and lure Batman into a surprise birthday party, which disappoints Nightwing, along with the other attendees of Batman’s party (consisting of Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Robin, Batgirl, Beast Boy and Starfire). Batgirl, Robin and Nightwing reveal that as a present for Batman, they decided to take him on vacation. Superman is willing to serve as a temporary replacement of Batman, believing the criminals of Gotham would not be hard to defeat due to many of them lacking superpowers.

The Justice League and Teen Titans are able to convince Batman to accept the vacation and Batman, Nightwing and Batgirl leave to their holiday plans. Robin stays behind to show Superman the ropes and give him advice on Gotham’s villains. Meanwhile at Arkham Asylum, Joker uses a spoon (which he drew a face on and calls “Spoony”) to dig himself out of his cell. Elsewhere, Batman easily figures out Nightwing and Batgirl’s vacation plans for him, to take him down Memory Lane by having him visit the dojo of his former martial arts sensei Madame Mantis.

After a brief reunion battle with his former sensei, Batman discovers it was actually a disguised minion of Deathstroke. Batman, Batgirl and Nightwing then find Deathstroke and follow him into a cave. Meanwhile in Gotham, Superman finds out about Joker’s escape and ignores Robin’s warning about him. Unfortunately, this allows Joker to trick Superman into freeing Harley Quinn, Penguin, Poison Ivy and Scarecrow, from Arkham. Superman calls Cyborg in hopes of gaining assistance to stop the escaped villains. Back at the vacation site, Batman, Nightwing and Batgirl end up falling down a waterfall in the cave. During their time falling, Batman explains his past with Deathstroke, where Madame Mantis favoured a young Bruce Wayne over him.

Deathstroke ultimately dropped out due to the fact that Mantis believed Deathstroke was not ready to learn “The Forbidden Move”. At the bottom of the waterfall, Batman, Nightwing and Batgirl uncover an underground kingdom of Trogowogs (a hidden underground race of short, green humanoids which Madame Mantis did not introduce to humanity to avoid corruption). The primitive (yet optimistic, prim and proper) residents immediately attack Batman and co. and Batman ultimately surrenders to Deathstroke when the latter threatens to kill Nightwing and Batgirl.

They are then introduced to the Trogowog leader, revealed to be Bane, who gained his position with the use of a pink crystal known as the Psyche Stone. Using the Psyche Stone, Bane was able to give the Trogowogs his fury and Deathstroke’s fighting skills. All he needs to make them unstoppable is the knowledge of the Forbidden Move from Batman’s mind since Madame Mantis has to strong of a will. Back in Gotham, Superman and Cyborg are easily defeated by Poison Ivy, so Superman reluctantly summons Wonder Woman, but Poison Ivy is able to coat all three of them in her pheromones to stun them. By the time the effect wears of, they have been taken to Joker’s funhouse where all the escaped villains are present and Scarecrow is able to douse the Justice Leaguers with fear gas, making them cowardly enough for the villains to torment them long enough to put them in molten kryptonite and more pheromones to boil them into soup. Robin notices this and goes to save the League.

Back in the Trogowog kingdom, Batman, Nightwing and Batgirl are held in the dungeon, stripped of their utility belts and imprisoned with Madame Mantis and the Trogowogs’ cowardly prince Grungle (the only trogowog not to fall victim of the Psyche Stone) who reveals that the Trogowogs were once a peaceful and friendly race, until Bane found out about their kingdom and used the Psyche Stone to teach them hatred and violence. In addition, he killed Grungles father and locked away Grungle. Luckily for the prisoners, Batman stashed away a brick separator and uses it to break them free. Unfortunately, they are recaptured after Bane threatens to kill them and Batman reluctantly succumbs to the Psyche Stone’s power (while repeatedly saying “Dance”) and reveals how to use the Forbidden move, which involves harnessing one’s own chi to create a projectile of destructive power. Back in Gotham, Robin is able to save the captive Justice Leaguers and they shake of the pheromones. Robin and the Justice League then leave the amusement park, causing the villains to believe that Gotham is now defenseless and theirs for the taking. Superman apologizes for ignoring Robin’s warnings and Robin teaches the Justice League the skills they need to defeat the villains.

In the Trogowog kingdom, the trogowogs are fed with the knowledge of the Forbidden move, and Grungle is held hostage by Bane. When Deathstroke attempts to use the move to kill Batman, he immediately stops himself, believing that using it would be to easy. At that moment, Deathstroke regains his honour, helps Batman and co. to escape and allies with his former classmates against the Trogowog army. As the trogowogs are ready to kill Batman and Deathstroke, Batman utters “Batusi”, causing the trogowogs to dance uncontrollably. It turns out while Batman was under the power of the Psyche Stone, he applied a mental command in addition to the Forbidden move. At the same time, Nightwing and Batgirl arrive to free Grungle, but are pinned down by Bane’s use of a monolith.

This gives Grungle the courage to fight back against Bane and his small size allows him to avoid all attacks from Bane’s Venom-augmented physique. Freeing themselves from the monolith, Nightwing and Batgirl use the Psyche Stone to reveal Grungle’s battle with Bane to the other trogowogs. Grungle is able to defeat Bane by breaking the tubes of his Venom injector, reducing Bane to his normal form. In Gotham, one by one Scarecrow, Penguin and Poison Ivy are defeated by Robin and the Justice League and put back in Arkham Asylum. Joker and Harley Quinn have managed to tie Commissioner Gordon to the Bat-Signal until the Justice League arrive, free Commissioner Gordon and send Joker and Harley back to Arkham as well as confiscate “Spoony” so that Joker can’t dig his way out again. In the trogowog kingdom, Bane is locked in the dungeon, Grungle is made the new king and Deathstroke bids farewell to Batman (although he states that the team-up didn’t mean they were friends).

Batman, Nightwing and Batgirl use the Psyche Stone to erase the Forbidden Move from the trogowogs memories and restore them to their normal, peaceful and friendly selves. They then leave back to Gotham and say their goodbyes. Back in the Batcave, The Justice League and Teen Titans discuss not to mention any of the events that happened while Batman was gone, but when Batman, Batgirl and Nightwing do return, Superman confesses. To his surprise, Batman actually congratulates him, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Robin for putting them back in Arkham. The Justice League and Teen Titans then continue their party.

Fantastic. Very funny and entertaining. This is Bat-centric and features all the Bat family -Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl. Kids and adults will love it.

This is awesome!!! I have been a DC and Batman animated series for well over 2 decades, and I can honestly say I loved this movie. My kids were cracking up every few seconds. This just made the movie better for me, as it was a movie the whole family could enjoy. The characters are more child friendly and the including Batman’s costume design. They are using the blue cape and cowl instead of the black. However the best thing they did is that they keep the characters true to their core. cosmicclash3The characters. Superman is the most powerful character, but also the best liked they play up his good manners and naivety, (which is the opposite of how he is in the current New 52 comics); this is the way I remembered Superman growing up. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) is always jumping into battle head first simply to prove how fearless he is. Long-time fans will appreciate the continuity touch of him and Batman’s personality clash. Wonder Woman is the team protector and diplomat till you make her angry then the warrior Amazon comes out. Cyborg is inventor but still looking for acceptance from the teams big guns. Flash is portrayed as hyperactive and impatient, all the things that come with super speed, in the Lego universe he does not seem to be able to turn his posers off. I would love for the next move to focus more in him. Super girl has all of Superman’s powers but is a teenage worse a super powered teenage cheerleader. Batman is the main character in this story. Yes they do make him more kid friendly but they keep his dark, intensity, brooding, suspicious and workaholic personality that make him a bit of an outsider even to his friends in the justice League.
cosmicclash6After blasting the 3 most powerful members of the Justice League to different point in time shrinking the Earth and cataloguing it should be a breeze for the supercomputer that is Brainiac, right the only one left are the junior members and the Batman who does not even have any powers. This is great movie with lots of colourful characters and special attacks and moves for the youngsters, and then it has enough of a story and engagement and continuity to keep older/mature fans happy as well including appearances from “Elseworld” versions of characters. All in all a great movie for all fans of Lego or DC.

A great film. carrying on were Lego Justice League: Bizarro World left off we see the first union of the baddies in the Lego universe. Although the Bizarro World film was good, it wasn’t fantastic. This time however Lego hits the nail on the head with plenty of laugh out loud moments, an entertaining and gripping storyline that’s easily graspable for its target audience, a fantastic cast of voice actors including the legendary Mark Hamill and to top it all off a really cool mini figure of the Trickster (Just need the rest of the Rogues to be released now).

Theres loads of potential in this Lego DC Universe and plenty to develop on and to introduce new and exciting ideas. Fun for all the family, adults and kids alike will find entertainment in the Justice Leagues first show down with the Legion of Doom and be left hungry for the next installment.

REVIEW: LEGO STAR WARS: THE YODA CHRONICLES

CAST (VOICES)

Anthony Daniels (The Lego Movie)
Billy Dee Williams (Batman)
Tom Kane (The Powerpuff Girls)

Conceived as a tie-in to the re-branded LEGO range of Star Wars playsets, LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles features two more totally brand-new and 100% original 22 minute specials – this time based on George Lucas’ prequels, namely episodes one and two, and the adventures of Anakin, Obi-Wan Yoda and Mace Windu as they take on the evil Darth Sidious, Count Dooku and General Grevious.

In Episode I: The Phantom Clone, the action-packed adventure begins when Darth Sidious unveils his plan to create a new super-weapon — an enhanced Sith clone named Jek-14 — to help him defeat the Republic once and for all. It’s up to Jedi Master Yoda and his young Padawan students to work together and save the galaxy. Episode II: Menace of the Sith sees Count Dooku use his new and improved Clone-a-Matic to create an army of Jek clones, but the original Jek-14 wants no part of the sinister scheme. Now, with the help of some old friends and two familiar Droids, substitute teacher Anakin Skywalker must lead Yoda’s Padawan class to victory.

It seems that given the makers of this particular set of LEGO Star Wars specials had to focus on the  prequel movies, they decided to up the comedy quotient in comparison to the already available CG-animated LEGO tales – throwing many more jokes at the screen this time out, most of which had me literally laughing out loud! If it’s not General Grevious “accidentally” suffering a coughing fit when Darth Sidious praises Count Dooku and not him; then it’s the glorious afro-haired coupling of a young Lando Calrissian and his father Lindo (voiced by Billy Dee Williams), who also rocks the curly chest hair and gold medallion, who run a 70s style disco out of the Millenium Falcon; and there’s Yoda’s references to settling down on Dagobah as “it looks nice” and R2D2 using a clip from the live-action movies to make a point to the animated Anakin. The comedy comes thick and fast – yes some of it is childish, after all these are kids “movies” – but a lot of the jokes will hit home for Star Wars fans of all ages.
