Zooey Deschanel, Mark Proksch, Angela Kinsey, and Dreama Walker in New Girl (2011)Coach’s return was a little unexpected, there was already a great ensemble, why mess with it? For those who don’t know, Coach was one of the original characters from the pilot. Wayans’s was already cast in Happy Endings, but with Happy Endings suffering in the ratings, it was expected to be cancelled, leaving Wayans’s free to find another role. It didn’t get cancelled, and New Girl even benefited with the addition of Winston. Eventually, Happy Endings was cancelled, and Coach comes back. Coach’s return to, guess what, coaching was inspired, and his slight change in focus really benefits both him and Schmidt, as well as the show as a whole. By the end of the season, it feels like Coach has always been there!Max Greenfield and Jake Johnson in New Girl (2011)Then there is Winston. It really is a testament to Lamorne Morris’s ability as an actor and comic that he has got so much out of character that doesn’t really have much to do. I think he’s one of the least developed characters, and with so much focus on Nick & Jess, the re-introduction of Coach and Schmidt’s all round issues, he’s left to fill out episode storylines without getting much development himself. The comic relief Winston provides is necessary to balance out the drama with the other characters, but it’s a shame so much of it is just short story arcs or lasts just a single episode. If there’s any area I’d like season 4 to develop, it’s Winston. There is just too much talent and comedy to ignore.Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Damon Wayans Jr., Lamorne Morris, and Jake Johnson in New Girl (2011)New Girl continues its solid track record, producing a classic relationship season without losing the fact it’s a comedy at heart. Well executed by all involved.

The Simpsons (1989)It’s hilarious comedy, funny, and one of my all time favorite T.V shows .. The series is a satirical depiction of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture, society, television, and many aspects of the human condition. Modern Simpsons episodes are often both overstuffed and under-imagined, resulting in two indifferent, inadequately realized stories. Even though the show has dropped in creativity and in the joke department, it’s still worthy.Nancy Cartwright, Pamela Hayden, and Tress MacNeille in The Simpsons (1989)

MV5BNzM4NzIxODgwNl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMzUzMjg3MjE@._V1_Season three is another fun set of episodes with two and a half of America’s funniest bachelors. The season has several classic, over-the-top episodes that include Charlie dating a cultist, Alan dating a grandmother, Jake taking ballet, and Rose’s dad entering the picture. There are also some good all-around developments for the cast. Notably, Charlie gives up on his bachelor lifestyle after meeting the perfect woman.MV5BYjM5YzNjMmEtZTZmNy00YmE5LTg4MzctMGZjMTUyOTcyZmRhXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNTQ0NDExMjQ@._V1_The season kicks off with “Weekend in Bangkok With Two Olympic Gymnasts”. Charlie tries to prove his value as a responsible adult. He agrees to run Alan’s office while he goes to a school appointment for Jake. Of course, Charlie makes a muck of things and Alan freaks out. This aspect is not a new development, as pretty much the entire show has centered on the conflict between Charlie’s carefree personality and Alan’s neurotic behavior.MV5BMjVlMTM3MTAtNjY4OS00YTNmLTg0OTctOGZhYjQ1NGY1Y2EzXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNTQ0NDExMjQ@._V1_The season gets better and better. The pinnacle occurs with episode six, “Hi, Mr. Horned One”. This episode has a goofy undertone. Charlie spends a ravenous few days with Isabella. She is an indifferent girl with ties to the underworld. When she meets Alan, they do not click. She puts a curse on him. It is a ridiculous episode that ends with on a great note. The next episode is “Sleep Tight, Puddin’ Pop”. This episode has classic written all over it. The real strength comes from the guest star Marin Sheen. After Charlie gets drunk and wakes up with Rose in his bed, Rose’s father (Martin Sheen) demands to know Charlie’s intentions for his daughter. But after meeting Evelyn, Rose’s dad becomes obsessed with her and moves in — father like daughter. It is a great episode with an awesome performance from Martin Sheen, who fits the show like a glove.MV5BMjIxODU2OTI0N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMjczMjg3MjE@._V1_The next two episodes are also great and worth noting. In “That Voodoo That I Do Do”, Charlie meets Mia (Emmanuelle Vaugier), the woman of his dreams, who resists his charm. Charlie ties to win her over and fails. Eventually, he learns that she is a ballet teacher. To get on her good side, he pays Jake to take ballet lessons from her. The situation is simply funny and even kookier as Jake falls for her too. “Madame and Her Special Friend” has Alan at the center of an old tale. After trying to smooth things between Charlie and senior citizen neighbor Norma, Alan befriends her. One thing leads to another and he finds himself in an odd position as her young lover. Alan weighs his pride against material goods. He can have his own building dedicated to chiropractics; the catch, he has to sleep with her.MV5BMTg4MjYxNjYxNF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwMjIzMjg3MjE@._V1_Overall, it is a solid season that has a lot of laughs and fun for everyone to enjoy.

70dbaecd5b50ac67d9a414.96031511_More than 200,000 people have already signed a Change.org petition to cancel the Netflix comedy Insatiable before a single frame of it has aired. “We still have time to stop this series from being released,” the petition seethes, “and causing a devastation of self-doubt in the minds of young girls who will think that to be happy and be worthy, they need to lose weight.” Reading those words of these warriors against thin privilege fills me with a righteous rage as I brood about the victims of this manifest unfairness—namely, that I have to watch television shows before I write about them. It would be sooooo much easier (and lucrative!) to do these reviews based on the TV-log description or the title or the voices in my head.ins110unit00726rBut life’s not fair, so they say, which means I had to invest hours of viewing a sharply written and antically acted comedy about a fat, bullied teenage girl who drops four dress sizes after an accident, then goes on a rampage against her former tormentors, in order to tell you that Insatiable is not an assault on human decency but an extremely funny piece of work. Something like Death Wish if it had been directed by John Hughes, Insatiable starts off with Debby Ryan (Life Of The Party) encased in a Michelin-man size fat suit, playing a high school pariah named Patty—or Fatty Patty, as the rest of the school (even, oh my God, the band dorks) calls her. The name may be cruel, but it’s not exactly inaccurate. “While my classmates were out losing their virginity, I was at home, stuffing another hole,” laments Patty.insatiable-ht-ml-180731_hpEmbed_3x2_992She bottoms out one night when a homeless drunk demands her chocolate donut on the grounds that she’s too fat to eat it. She punches him; he punches back, much harder, and breaks her jaw. Three months of liquid diet later, Fatty Patty is Hottie Patty, with all the popular kids who once shunned her (and now have no idea who she is) begging her to join their cafeteria table. She’s unplacated by her new popularity, and the stage is set for Revenge of the Plus-Sized. But Patty’s not the only one bearing homicidal grudges. Bob (Dallas Roberts, The L Word), the attorney defending Patty on criminal charges over slugging the homeless guy, has his own kettle of barely suppressed rage. An airhead partner in his dad’s law firm, Bob is despondent that he’s been banned from his real love: coaching teenage contestants in the town’s cutthroat beauty pageants. (A mother, furious when her daughter loses a pageant after imprudently giving a happy-face oratory on keeping “trannies” out of women’s restrooms, falsely accused Bob of unhinging the girl by touching her “ho-ho.”) Seeing a chance to get back in the game and humiliate his rival coaches, Bob suggests that the newly beautiful Patty enter a pageant. Heinous, hilarious skullduggery ensues.netflix_insatiable_reviewInsatiable is not an exercise in fat-shaming or any other teenage caste cruelty. Sure, Patty gets mocked and abused, but the kids who engage in that behavior are unambiguously treated as villains, and they don’t fare well. And Patty’s acts of vengeance mostly seem heroic, even when they are patently misanthropic. Everybody who ever suffered shunning or scorn at the hands of a high-school social overlord will be raising a fist in solidarity. Which is the point. Executive producer Lauren Gussis, who worked on Showtime’s boy-psycho-next-door Dexter for several years, says Insatiable is really her memoir of an overweight adolescence full of convulsive anger at the way other kids treated her: “the kind of rage that makes you want to do dark things.” Dark, funny things.

Image result for my stepmother is an alienCeleste (Kim Basinger) is an alien sent on a secret mission to Earth and Steven Mills (Dan Aykroyd) is a widowed scientist who is working on different ways to send radio waves into deep space. An accident causes a disruption of gravity on Celeste’s home world (Cosine N to the 8th). She’s sent to investigate who could affect gravity and how it was done, believing it was an attack. She’s aided by an alien device resembling a tentacle with an eye, which hides in a designer purse to aid Celeste with her encounters on Earth. The Bag is able to create any object, such as diamonds and designer dresses almost instantaneously. Celeste crashes a party hosted by Steven’s brother Ron (Jon Lovitz) where she immediately draws attention to herself by making dated references to old TV shows and political slogans under the mistaken belief that it was current (her superiors had just collected the information, which had taken 92 years to get from Earth to her home world).

Celeste’s inexperience almost results in her exposing herself as alien when she struggles with simple tasks like trying to kiss for the first time or cooking. Jessie Mills (Alyson Hannigan), Steven’s 13-year-old daughter, notices Celeste’s strange habits, like eating car batteries and pulling hard boiled eggs out of boiling hot water with her bare hands and becomes suspicious of her. However, she can’t convince her smitten father that there is something unusual about Celeste. Ron also has his doubts about Celeste, but more on the basis that he feels his brother is doing too much too soon by asking to marry Celeste only a few days after they first met. Ron tries to dissuade Steven from marrying Celeste on the idea she is an illegal immigrant or planning economic espionage, but then admits he is jealous his brother found his dream girl whereas he will never find a girl like Princess Stéphanie of Monaco.

Celeste encounters a lot of new experiences such as sneezing, sexual intercourse and love. When finally confronted about being an extraterrestrial by Jessie, Celeste admits her home world is without emotion. Celeste plans to depart once she discovers the truth, but is put in a quandary by Jessie, who says it will devastate her father, whom Celeste has now developed feelings for. After Jessie argues with her dad, she runs away and is nearly hit by a car, but is saved by Celeste’s powers. This reveals to Steven that Celeste is indeed an alien and that she has fallen in love with him as well as accepting Jessie as her own daughter. When the leaders of Celeste’s home world report in they ask her to destroy the planet Earth until she and Steven manage to convince them it was not an act of aggression, but an accident. They accept the explanation on the basis that gravity is returning to normal on their planet and give their blessing for Celeste to be with Steven. Initially, however, they demand that Celeste return to explain human culture to them but settle for a native of Earth to serve as ambassador to their world as a token of goodwill. The ambassadorship is accepted by Ron, who departs for Celeste’s world in a spaceship served by several flight attendants, all of whom look like Princess Stéphanie.MV5BMjAwODU5ODE3OV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNjY5MjEyNQ@@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,706,1000_AL_This is a classic movie not to be over looked as others have been from the 80’s
If you are at a loose end and need a good laugh and be entertained this is a good movie to watch.

On July 4th, 2005, in a fictionalized United States alternate history reality, two towns in Texas: El Paso and Abilene were destroyed by twin nuclear attacks that triggered a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions, sending America into a state of anarchy and hysteria, as well as a Third World War (a fictionalized perspective of what the War on Terror would’ve escalated to). The PATRIOT Act has extended authority to a new agency known as US-IDent, which keeps constant surveillance on citizens—even to the extent of censoring the Internet and requiring fingerprints to access computers and bank accounts. In response to the recent fuel shortage in the wake of global warfare, the German company Treer designs a generator of inexhaustible energy, which is propelled by the perpetual motion of ocean currents, called “Fluid Karma”. However, its inventor Baron von Westphalen and his associates are hiding the fact that the generators alter the ocean’s currents and cause the Earth to slow its rotation, and that the transmission of Fluid Karma to portable receivers (via quantum entanglement) is ripping holes in the fabric of space and time.
In near-future 2008, Los Angeles (referred to as “The Southlands” by locals) is a city on the brink of chaos overshadowed by the growth of the underground neo-Marxist organization. The film follows the criss-crossed destinies of Boxer Santaros (Dwayne Johnson), an action film actor stricken with amnesia; Krysta Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar), a psychic ex-porn star in the midst of creating a reality TV show; and twin brothers Roland and Ronald Taverner (both Seann William Scott), whose destinies become intertwined with that of all mankind. The Taverner twins are revealed to be the same person by the engineers of Treer, duplicated when Roland traveled through a rift in space-time, while Boxer has become the most wanted man in the world despite his political ties and his having the fate of the future, in the form of a prophetic screenplay foretelling the end of the world, in his hands.

Southland Tales is not for everybody and while some may find it pretentious, I personally found it extremely engaging and thought provoking and in my opinion is a misunderstood masterpiece
