UntitledThe Tanner-Fuller Family is back for a third season. Fuller House is the proof that nostalgia never dies.  As the season kicks off, the theme is immediately revealed. Whereas Season 2 focused on various holidays throughout the year, this time out the episodes encompass summer vacation. It’s an odd choice to make for a series debuting just as summer comes to an end but gives the show some ideas to play with none the less, whether it’s Jackson (Michael Campion) being stuck in summer school thanks to his terrible grades, or Max (Elias Harger) joining forces with Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) to throw a pool party.UntitledNaturally, the bulk of the show’s storylines goes to the adults as they figure out their love lives and their futures while also raising a house full of kids. As with Season 2, DJ (Candace Cameron-Bure) is still caught between feelings she has for her boyfriend Matt (John Brotherton) and her ex Steve (Scott Weinger). Given that she’s in a committed relationship and Steve is engaged to another woman though, the flirtation between the two isn’t quite as honest and innocent as it once was. Given that the first half of the season ends on the cliffhanger of DJ accidently revealing her feelings to Steve en route to the latter’s wedding, this is clearly a story that’s not going to end anytime soon. UntitledIn an unconventional choice for the streaming site, Netflix chose to split up the third season of the warm and fuzzy 80s/90s reboot, debuting the first nine episodes of the season in September, just in time for the 30th anniversary of the debut of the original series, and dropping the back nine episodes just in time for the Christmas holidays. At the end of the first half the season, we were left with a bit of a cliffhanger, with the entire Fuller House party on their way to Japan for Steve and C.J.’s wedding. In a somewhat sleepy haze, D.J. – without realizing she’s talking to Steve instead of Kimmy – confesses to Steve that she had planned on picking him, because she truly feels like they were always soulmates and meant to be together. maxresdefaultWe pick up the second half of the season once the plane lands in Japan and the gang is off to explore this new country in a location-based episode that’s reminiscent of the Full House Disney World special. Steve, unsure what to do about this new information that D.J. may still have feelings for him, confides in Kimmy, and decides to talk to D.J. about it. However, before he’s able to discuss it with her, Matt proposes and she says yes while Steve overhears the entire proposal. Fuller-House-Season-3-Episode-11-11-2becGiving up, Steve and C.J. continue on with their wedding, until D.J. accidentally throws one of the wedding rings into the koi pond and has to chase down a famous koi fish to get it back. When she does so, it finally comes out that Steve overheard D.J. confess her true feelings to him, and that Steve might feel the same way.  So, Steve leaves C.J. at the alter, in a moment that feels reminiscent of every 90s romantic comedy ever, and when Matt gets up to announce his engagement to D.J., D.J. winds up breaking off their engagement. Thus ends a whirlwind trip to Japan and starts a new potential rekindled romance for Steve and D.J.fuller-house-season-3The show has also managed to build up characters we can certainly care about, even as we wade through all the terrible dancing and silly excuses to shove in Stephanie’s singing.  The end of season three brings us somewhat full circle, celebrating Full House’s 30th debut anniversary in a season finale that brings the whole family back together with a lot of big changes. First, Danny and Becky are ousted from their show when their contract is up for renewal. Becky is asked to come back as a host on a different show, but Danny is out of work now and announces to his daughters that he plans on moving back in with them. Second, Joey’s wife gets a comedy gig on a cruise ship circuit, and Jesse and Joey go in on buying a laundromat that they plan on turning into a club, so both Jesse and Joey plan on moving back to San Francisco.Third, Kimmy volunteers to be the surrogate for Stephanie and Jimmy’s baby, and the invitro process is successful, so Kimmy is now pregnant with Stephanie and Jimmy’s child. Fuller-House-Season-3-Episode-18-2-7a83Finally, Steve gets offered a position as the foot doctor for the LA Lakers, which would mean that he has to move to LA for six months, effectively putting D.J. and his relationship on hold once again. He decides to turn the position down, but D.J. tells him to go for it, as it’s a dream job for him. And so, once again, the universe – or, at least, the show writers – put a wedge between our two potential soulmates, with the promise that perhaps, in six months’ time, they might finally be together for good.Fuller-House-Season-3-Episode-16-17-3bd5Whether the show gets picked up for a fourth season or not, this season leaves us in a good place.

2.9) OUR VERY FIRST CHRISTMAS SHOW

The family is on a flight to Colorado to spend Christmas with some relatives, and this is a trip that Danny has spent months planning – but on the way to Colorado, a blizzard forces an emergency landing at an unfamiliar airport. The family is forced to spend Christmas in the baggage claim room, where everyone thinks Christmas is ruined this time around. Among the things that happen here are: Jesse’s father Nick tries to get Jesse to kiss Becky under a mistletoe, D.J. is upset that the gifts that the family brought along on the flight with them are missing, and Michelle is afraid of Lionel (Sorrell Booke), a man who made her cry on the airplane because of his toupee. Jesse, becoming ever so frustrated by everyone’s sour attitudes, speaks to the people in the baggage claim room about the real meaning of Christmas. Then Santa Claus shows up and shows the family where the missing gifts are, and it turns out that Lionel is Santa Claus.

3.11) AFTERSHOCKS

In the wake of a frightening earthquake, Danny is initially willing to deny Stephanie’s excessive clinginess. It all seems relatively harmless to him at first, but Danny finally recognizes the seriousness of the situation when his distraught daughter won’t even let him go on a business dinner for a few hours. Unable to get Stephanie to share her feelings with him, Danny reluctantly agrees that this is not something that a dad can handle on his own. Meanwhile, D.J.—who wakes up one morning with a zit on her nose—nervously anticipates her role in a school play.

Joey gets a job as the host of a local game show, The Perfect Couple. He gets the family to do the first show with him, with D.J. and Steve as the dating couple, Jesse and Becky as the married couple, and Danny and Vicky as the engaged couple. Vicky cannot make it on time, so Danny has to pair up with an old woman named Estelle. The director of the show tells Joey to embarrass the contestants, and he does, much to the family’s dismay. At the end of the show, Vicky arrives and tells Danny that she accepted a job as a network anchor in New York City. Danny tells her that he cannot take a long-distance relationship, and the two break off their engagement and break up, although they still have feelings for each other. Scream Queens’ second season, which manages against all odds to keep continuity with the absurd and funny first season. There’s a similar framing to Season 1, with a mysterious child and a murder kicking off the horror side of the story, but Season 2 seems to be much more interested than riffing off TV hospital dramas than horror tropes. Showrunners Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan found an excuse to bring back the Chanels, Zayday, Dean Dr. Munsch and even Denise Hemphill; later in the season Hester and, yes, Chad returns later in the season. We have newcomers Brock Holt (John Stamos), Cassidy Cascade (Taylor Lautner) and Chamberlain Jackson (James Earl). Jamie Lee Curtis is as fantastic as ever as Dr. Munsch, who used her New New Feminism platform to get the honorary doctorate taken away from Bill Cosby, and decides to take down America’s flawed health care system by creating a new hospital which aims to cure diseases modern medicine has deemed incurable. Everything about this premise is top notch, and echoes the best parts of Scream Queens: Season 1. It’s smart, it’s biting, it’s timely and politically aware, and it lets Curtis do her thing with much pomp and circumstance. There’s a bit of a course correction from Season 1’s finale, which was humorously inspired by the successes of Making a Murderer and The Jinx. Though Hester got away with framing the Chanels, an award-winning Netflix documentary revisited the case and Hester accidentally confessed her crimes to Denise due to a lack of understanding how double jeopardy works. Thus Hester was incarcerated and the Chanels set free, only to still be shunned by society and forced to work odd jobs in the medical industry in an attempt to do some good for the world and rehabilitate their image.

It’s all a convoluted way to get the Chanels, Zayday, Munsch and newcomers Brock and Cassidy in the same place: a hospital that just so happens to be the same one where a murder took place 32 years prior that birthed a green-masked serial killer. Will the murderer be the baby of the murdered man, like in Season 1, or did that swamp actually cause the discarded patient to turn into a mutated monster?Season 2 was a great season, sadly the cliffhanger will never be resovled and we are left wanting more that sadly wont happen.

When I found out that they were making this I had mixed feelings of happy nostalgia and preemptive disappointment. While the child in me wants this to make it due to fond memories of watching the original, another part of me was sure it would be horrible. It turned out to be great after binge watching season 1 I was stoked for season 2 and once again it did not disappoint.  The episodes this season are

IT’S NOT MY JOB

Jesse has made his first sale of an advertising jingle. As a result, Jesse tells his father, Nick Katsopolis, that he wants to leave the pest exterminator business that is run by Nick, and Nick is severely disappointed by this – so disappointed, that Nick loses his temper with Jesse and says that he is out of the family. Jesse and his mother Irene manage to talk some sense into Nick, who realizes that Jesse has a dream about making it in the music business, and Nick and Jesse work things out. Meanwhile, Stephanie is afraid to go to the dentist to get a tooth filled, and she is even more nervous when she is actually sitting in the examination chair. Joey helps her beat her fear.

DIVORCE COURT

Family discord is not usually in high supply within the Tanner household, but trouble begins when D.J. and Stephanie-who haven’t been getting along too well recently-duke it out over privacy issues in their shared bedroom. Frustrated that her big sister doesn’t appreciate her, Stephanie impulsively moves in with little Michelle, a decision she soon regrets. Of course, the kids aren’t the only ones at odds with each other; Danny, Jesse, and Joey go on live air with Wake Up, San Francisco, challenge one another to a footrace, and set out to prove who is the most physically strong. After the race the boys attempt to play court to mediate the situation between Stephanie and D.J.

Based on the book Disco Bloodbath, by James St. James, the film opens with Michael Alig as a small-town outcast who lived with his mom before moving to New York. Michael learns the New York party scene from James St. James, who teaches him the “rules of fabulousness”, which mostly revolve around attracting as much attention to oneself as possible.Image result for PARTY MONSTER 2003Despite James’ warning, Alig hosts a party at The Limelight, a local club owned by Peter Gatien. With Alig as its main attraction, The Limelight soon becomes the hottest club in New York. Alig is named “King of the Club Kids” and goes on a cross country journey in search of more club kids. Alig and James pick up Angel Melendez, Gitsie, and Brooke. Gitsie becomes Michael’s latest sidekick although the movie implies the relationship was a little more than platonic. However, after Michael descends further into drug abuse, his life starts to spiral out of control, eventually culminating in his involvement in the murder of Angel. Gitsie and Michael decide to go to rehab but ultimately return to NY with the same drug problems as before causing Michael to lose his job and end up in a motel in New Jersey. James then begins to write his “Great American Novel” published as Disco Bloodbath and later as Party Monster.Image result for PARTY MONSTER 2003I couldn’t possibly think of a fault in this film. The acting (in particular on the parts of Culkin and Green) is sublime, and, with the considerable help of an exquisite wardrobe and soundtrack, perfectly portrays the drug-fuelled hedonism of the New York Club Kids. This is easily one of the most underrated films of the 21st century.
