An adult Andy Barclay returns home after a bad date and is revealed to have the original Chucky’s head, which is still conscious and deformed after being repeatedly tortured by Andy in retribution for his crimes. Meanwhile, Nica Pierce has spent the past four years in a mental institution after being framed by Chucky for the murders of her family. After years of intense therapy, she now believes she was responsible for the murders and that Chucky was just a manifestation of her psychosis. As a result of her “breakthrough”, her doctor, Dr. Foley, has her transferred to a medium security mental institution. Andy presents Chucky’s severed head to Dr. Foley to convince him of Nica’s innocence, but he dismisses the head as “special effects”.After arriving, Nica becomes part of a regular group therapy session, which is composed of Malcolm, a man with multiple identity disorder, Angela, an old woman who believes herself to be dead, Claire, a woman who burned her house down and Madeleine, a disturbed patient who smothered her infant son to death. Dr. Foley introduces a new therapy technique which involves a Good Guy doll to the group. Most of the patients are deeply unsettled by the doll except for Madeleine, who takes the doll and treats it as her baby.Nica is visited by Tiffany Valentine, who reveals that Nica’s niece, Alice, has died and leaves her a Good Guy doll, which she claims was a gift from Alice. That night, Chucky awakens and finds Nica only to discover that she had attempted suicide by slashing her wrists with one of the spokes of her wheelchair. The next morning, Nica awakens to find that her wrists have been stitched up and that a message stating “not so fast” has been left in a puddle of her blood. She then discovers that Angela has died, apparently of suicide after having her wrists cut and the message “Chucky did it” left in her blood.download (7).jpeAngela’s death leaves the group shaken and after realizing that Valentine was the last name of Charles Lee Ray’s girlfriend, Nica begins to believe that Chucky is real. Believing Madeleine is in danger, Nica has Michael pursue her out to the institution’s graveyard in order to warn her. However, Madeline throws both the doll and Michael into an empty grave. The orderlies rescue Michael, but it is heavily implied that Chucky has transferred his soul into his body. After Claire tries to get rid of the other doll, it bites her leaving Dr. Foley and the orderlies to believe that she is self-harming. Claire becomes hysterical and Dr. Foley and Carlos sedate her and strapping her to a Gurney. After Claire is left alone, one of the Chucky dolls kills her by smashing the skylight in the room and decapitating her with shards of broken glass. In a private session with Dr. Foley, Nica agrees to be hypnotized in order to regain any repressed memories about her involvement in the murders. While hypnotized, it is revealed that Foley has been sexually abusing Nica during their previous sessions. Foley is then hit from behind by Chucky with a glass bottle and offers Nica one of the shards to kill Foley, although she doesn’t go through with it. Foley believes Nica is the one who assaulted him but is willing to keep quiet in order to blackmail her for sexual favors. Meanwhile, Madeleine takes her Good Guy doll and smothers it with a pillow forcing her to confront the repercussions of her real child’s death. The orderlies bury the doll as a form of catharsis for Madeleine.Andy learns about the murders online and realizes that Chucky has somehow managed to transfer his soul into multiple bodies at once. He hatches a plan to end the carnage by sending a Good Guy doll to the facility with a gun inside, cutting its hair so he can tell the difference. Andy arrives at the institution and commits himself by assaulting one of the security guards. Madeleine is visited by her doll, who has risen from the grave and allows him to kill her so she can finally be with her baby again. Foley returns to his office and finds Nica tied in a straight jacket. He attempts to assault her again but is knocked out by one of the Chucky dolls. The other Chucky doll enters, and upon seeing the Good Guy doll Andy sent, awakens him. The three Chuckys reveal that the original Chucky found a voodoo spell on the Internet which allowed him to separate his soul from multiple host bodies. He then reveals that Alice was one of his hosts, but was killed after one of Chucky’s victims fought back against her. Carlos suddenly appears in Dr. Foley’s office and watches Nica surrounded by the three Chucky’s. All the dolls kill Carlos by stabbing him, cutting his stomach open with the broken glass bottle and stabbing him with a screwdriver as Nica looks on in horror. While the short-haired Chucky leaves to kill Andy, one of the other Chucky’s transfers his soul into Nica, granting her body the ability to walk, and stomps Foley’s skull in with the red high heels Foley had earlier placed on her, as retribution for his treatment of Nica. Chucky/Nica wanders the hospital and stumbles upon Michael who shows her the body Ashley claiming that he killed her. Chucky/Nica refuses his claim as he had never actually transferred his soul into his body. Michael breaks down and states that he takes on so many personalities as a way of trying to be someone who matters before being killed by Madeline’s Chucky who cuts through his skull with the screwdriver. The short-haired Chucky attacks Andy in his cell, but after a brief struggle Andy reaches into Chucky’s chest and pulls out the gun, and shoots the doll repeatedly before stomping its head. Andy attempts to shoot Chucky/Nica, but had wasted all of his ammo. The institution is sent into lockdown resulting in Andy being locked inside his cell, Madeline’s Chucky going into hiding, and Chucky/Nica escaping. Chucky/Nica reunites with Tiffany and kiss passionately before driving off together with the Tiffany doll, hinting that the eighth film might be revealed in the future. In a post-credits scene, Andy’s former foster sister Kyle from the second film enters Andy’s house, having been sent by Andy to continue torturing the original Chucky’s severed head.Don Mancini has created another interesting entry in the franchise and there is plenty on offer here for the fans. I would say that whatever Don has planned for the next installment will be more interesting as this one is very much a build up with a lot going on. After the two revelations at the end, one I don’t know what to think because I suppose the loss of innocence plays a part in it and another that breaks new ground and is interesting but I am not sure how Don will play it out. He sets this one up to make you really want to see what happens next and on that note, the film works and is a clever addition to the franchise

HALLOWEEN OF HORROR REVIEW: CURSE OF CHUCKY

Brennan Elliott (Take me Home)

Summer H. Howell (Channel Zero)

Twenty-five years after the events of the first film, Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) mysteriously arrives in the mail at the home of paraplegic Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) and her mother Sarah (Chantal Quesnel). Later that night, Sarah is found dead from a stab wound, and her death is ruled as a suicide. Nica is later visited by her sister Barb (Danielle Bisutti), accompanied by her husband Ian (Brennan Elliott), their daughter Alice (Summer H. Howell), live-in nanny Jill (Maitland McConnell), and Father Frank (A Martinez). Alice finds Chucky and is allowed to keep him. That evening, while Alice and Nica are making soup, Chucky secretly pours rat poison into one of the dinner bowls. Father Frank eats the poison and, after leaving the house, is decapitated in a car accident. That night, Nica investigates Chucky on the Internet and finds news articles about the murders tied to both the doll and Charles Lee Ray. Elsewhere, Chucky kicks a bucket of rain water onto the floor’s power outlets, electrocuting Jill and causing a blackout. Barb gets up to check on Alice and is attacked by Chucky, who stabs her in the eye with a kitchen knife. Nica hears Barb’s cries but has to crawl up the stairs. Once upstairs, Nica discovers that Barb is dead and Chucky is alive. When Chucky flees, Nica wakes Ian up in a panic.Ian takes Nica to the garage but is unable to find Alice. He disarms Nica, believing her to be responsible for the murders. Nica tries to explain that Chucky is alive, but Chucky acts like a lifeless doll when Ian looks at him. Ian decides to review the footage from a hidden camera that he planted on Chucky earlier (to get evidence of Barb’s affair with Jill) and learns that Alice is locked in a closet and that Chucky truly is alive. Exposed, Chucky kills Ian with a hatchet before he can act. Nica manages to break out of her restraints and tries to kill Chucky, but Chucky pushes her over a balcony onto the ground floor. When Nica asks why Chucky is doing this, he explains through flashbacks that as Charles Lee Ray, he was a friend of her family and in love with Sarah. Ray killed Nica’s father and kidnapped Sarah while she was pregnant with Nica. When Sarah betrayed him, he stabbed her in the stomach (which resulted in Nica being born paraplegic) and escaped. Ray’s flight from the police ultimately led to his death as a human, which is why he came back to Sarah for revenge. Before Chucky can kill Nica, she fights back, leading to an extended scuffle. Officer Stanton (Adam Hurtig) arrives at the house, but sees Nica holding the bloody knife after finding Barb’s body. A motionless Chucky watches from a nearby chair. Some time later, Nica is found guilty of the murders and sent to a mental asylum. Chucky is retained by the police as an exhibit for her trial. The arresting officer gets in his car and sees Chucky breathing in the bag. He is killed by Tiffany, who had been hiding in the backseat. Tiffany collects Chucky and asks, “Who’s next?” Meanwhile, Alice, now living with her grandmother, comes home from school to find Chucky waiting for her. Chucky persuades Alice to play “Hide The Soul”, and starts the infamous voodoo chant to transfer his soul into Alice’s body. The grandmother, who Chucky has attacked but did not kill, sits up suddenly, suffocating in a plastic bag, shortly after Chucky begins the chant. In a post-credits scene set six months later, Chucky, still in his doll body, is delivered to the now-adult Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent). When Andy turns his back to answer a phone call from his mother, Chucky cuts his way out of the package with a knife. Andy, who had anticipated Chucky coming after him again, shoots Chucky with a gun.The story does take the series full circle linking it to the original and other sequels, plus we get a few nice cameos towards the end. Overall its really worth checking out if your a fan, its fits in so well with the rest of this amazing horror gem of a franchise

Billy Boyd (Lord of The Rings)
Redman (How High)
Hannah Spearritt (Agent Cody Banks 2)
John Waters (Hairspray)
Jason Flemyng (From Hell)

Glen, the kind and benevolent son of Chucky and Tiffany, has a nightmare in which he murders a little girl’s parents. In reality, he is living a life of embarrassment and abuse as a ventriloquist’s dummy. After being forced to perform and locked inside a cage, Glen sees Chucky and Tiffany on television.

Desperate to know his parents, Glen tracks Chucky and Tiffany down to Hollywood, where they are first shown killing a man who is dressed as Santa Claus for a movie. Glen manages to escape his abusive owner, hitch a ride on a truck, and mail himself in a box to California. He wakes up in the prop room of Jennifer Tilly’s horror film, which includes the Chucky and Tiffany dolls. Glen uses the same voodoo amulet to bring them back to life. When Chucky (voice of Brad Dourif) finds out that Glen is his child, he faints. However, Tiffany (voice of Jennifer Tilly) is delighted and hugs her child. Chucky and Tiffany argue over whether Glen is a boy or a girl, due to his lack of genitals (though he is evidently a male). Chucky decides to continue labeling him as a boy, while Tiffany labels him as a girl, calling him “Glenda.”When a puppeteer Tony Gardner begins taking Tiffany apart, she and Chucky decapitate him with a piano wire, leaving Glen shocked and horrified. Jennifer Tilly sees the beheaded body and calls the police. Chucky, Tiffany, and Glen ride home with her in a limousine. Glen, having witnessed his mom and dad kill the puppeteer, asks them why they murder others, as he feels that violence is bad. Chucky replies that it helps them to relax, but Tiffany, feeling parental responsibility, agrees with Glen and forces Chucky to join her in an attempt to stop killing people for the sake of their son. Chucky only pretends to agree, crossing his fingers behind his back, hoping to get Tiffany to shut up.Jennifer tries to get a role as the Virgin Mary in Redman’s directorial debut, but after he tells her that she isn’t right for the part, she invites him over to her house. Chucky and Tiffany make plans to transfer their souls into Redman and Jennifer. Jennifer and Redman start to make love, only for Tiffany to knock them out. While they are unconscious, Tiffany uses a turkey baster to inseminate Jennifer with Chucky’s semen.Chucky leaves and takes Glen with him. After driving Britney Spears’ car off the road, killing her, they proceed to go to a photographer’s darkroom. The photographer, Pete Peters (John Waters), had taken pictures of Tilly kissing Redman and of Chucky masturbating. When Peters turns around, he notices Chucky is gone. Peters slowly walks around his lab looking for Chucky, who was hiding on a shelf. As Chucky is about to attack, Glen tries to warn Peters that Chucky will kill him, only for Peters to bump into a shelf, causing a jar of sulphuric acid to fall into his head, accidentally killing him. Chucky, overjoyed with pride, believes Glen did this on purpose and takes a picture to celebrate, much to Glen’s and Tiffany’s dismay.Jennifer awakens the following morning, realizes that she is pregnant and claims that Redman is responsible, though he denies this. Angered, Tiffany kills him. The next day, Jennifer is horrified to find herself with a fully pregnant belly. The voodoo magic that fuels the killer dolls has also accelerated the pregnancy. Jennifer is captured by Chucky. Her chauffeur, Stan, serving as Chucky’s replacement body due to Redman’s death, is also captured. Jennifer’s assistant Joan (Hannah Spearritt) tries to help her, but she is brutally killed by Glen’s murderous twin sister, Glenda, whose soul shares Glen’s body. Tiffany discovers this and smacks Glenda to bring back Glen, who is horrified at what has happened.Jennifer gives birth to twins, a boy and a girl, and it is then that Chucky has an epiphany. After years of being an infamous killer doll, Chucky finally accepts his circumstances. Disturbed, Tiffany rejects Chucky and resolves to take Glen with her. Chucky tries to throw a knife at Tiffany, but Stan jumps in front of it to save her, causing him to be stabbed in his chest, and he tells Jennifer that he loves her before he dies. The police arrive, forcing the dolls to flee. Jennifer is rushed to the hospital but claims she wants to see her babies. Tiffany drugs Jennifer and begins to possess her, but Chucky breaks in and kills Tiffany with an ax. Before Tiffany dies, she tells Glen to not make the same mistakes his mom and dad have made. Devastated by his mother’s death, Glen finally snaps and challenges Chucky to a fight. Jennifer throws Chucky’s axe to Glen, and Glen impales Chucky. Chucky assumes it’s Glenda again, but Glen reveals that it’s actually him, finally able to kill in revenge for his mother’s death. As he says this, he brings the axe down, dismembering Chucky limb by limb, calling him “Daddy” and asking if he’s finally proud of him. Chucky says that he is and he congratulates Glen right before the final, fatal blow. Realizing what he has done, Glen suffers an emotional breakdown and Jennifer comforts him.Five years later, at Glen and Glenda’s birthday party, a nanny quits her job because Jennifer’s daughter Glenda scares her. Jennifer lets the nanny quit, only to kill her when she turns away. Jennifer’s eyes glow green, revealing that Tiffany was successful in possessing Jennifer’s body. Glen has one more birthday present to open, an anonymous gift. When he opens it, Chucky’s severed arm springs up to grab Glen and Chucky’s trademark laugh is heard as the screen goes black.Full marks to Jennifer Tilly who not only voices Tiffany, but stars as herself and mercilessly sends herself up, portraying herself as an evil human, not an awful lot better than the evil dolls. So, expect more killing and bloodshed, only this time played for laughs rather than scares, not the best in the franchise but still a worth entry.

One month after Chucky’s demise in the last film, Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly), a former girlfriend and accomplice of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif) acquires Chucky’s remains from a police compound after murdering Officer Robert Bailey (Vince Coraza), who removed the doll’s remains from an evidence locker. Believing that Ray’s soul still inhabits the doll, Tiffany crudely stitches Chucky back together and reenacts the voodoo ritual which had instilled Ray’s soul inside the doll ten years ago.The incantations fail at first, but Chucky suddenly springs to life and kills Tiffany’s Goth admirer Damien (Alexis Arquette) as Tiffany looks on with excitement. Later, Tiffany and Chucky have an argument because Tiffany believed that Chucky wanted to marry her. Upon learning he had no intention of doing so, Tiffany locks Chucky in a playpen, and later gives him a doll in a wedding dress to make fun of him. While Tiffany is taking a bath, Chucky escapes the play pen and pushes the television set into the bathtub, electrocuting her. He then uses the same voodoo ritual to transfer Tiffany’s soul into the bride doll in order for her to feel what he went through as a living doll. Still intent on becoming human again, Chucky plans to retrieve the magical amulet that was buried with Ray’s body to transfer their souls into the bodies of Tiffany’s neighbor Jesse (Nick Stabile) and his girlfriend Jade (Katherine Heigl).Tiffany sends Jesse a message asking him to transport the two dolls to Hackensack, New Jersey, in exchange for money. Jesse convinces Jade to go with him, but as they pack up, Jade’s strict and overprotective uncle police chief Warren (John Ritter) plants a bag of marijuana in Jesse’s van to frame him. Chucky and Tiffany set up a car airbag to launch nails into his face, then hide the body. Jesse and Jade return and begin their trip.Outside a convenience store, they are pulled over by Officer Norton, who searches Jesse’s car and finds the marijuana. As he goes back to his patrol car to report it, Chucky causes the car to explode, killing Officer Norton in the process, and Jesse and Jade flee the scene. They stop at a wedding chapel/hotel and get married. Meanwhile, Warren, still alive, tries to escape but is killed by Chucky. While Jesse and Jade are at the hotel, a con artist couple steals Jesse’s money. As the criminals have sex in their room, Tiffany throws a bottle at the mirrored ceiling. The falling shards of glass kill the two con artists. Amazed at the murder, Chucky proposes to Tiffany. The next morning, a maid finds the corpses of the couple, and Jesse and Jade drive away with their best friend David (Gordon Michael Woolvett), who knew about their plan to elope. David reveals that Jesse and Jade are the main suspects for all of the deaths. He finds Warren’s body in the car and confront them. The dolls come alive and hold them hostage with guns, ordering them to keep driving. David alerts a police officer and is instantly killed by a passing truck. Horrified, Jesse and Jade drive away with the dolls.Chucky and Tiffany reveal their plan, and direct Jesse to steal a mobile home to use as a new vehicle to evade the police. While Tiffany prepares Jade for the body-switch, Jade convinces her to turn on Chucky. A fight between Tiffany and Chucky ensues. Jade locks Tiffany into an oven, while Jesse pushes Chucky out the window. Chucky shoots at Jesse, causing the mobile home to run off the road and into a ditch. Chucky forces Jade at gunpoint to take him to his grave site, while Jesse takes Tiffany and follows them. Chucky orders Jade to open the casket and take the amulet, which she does. Jesse then appears with Tiffany and they trade hostages, but Chucky throws a knife into Jesse’s back, and ties up the couple for the ritual. Before Chucky begins the incantation, Tiffany distracts Chucky, then unsuccessfully attempts to kill him. After a fight, Tiffany is stabbed in the heart and collapses. Jesse knocks Chucky into his grave, A private investigator (Lawrence Dane) arrives and witnesses the scene. Jade grabs The Investigator’s gun and shoots Chucky to death. The investigator contacts the police, telling them that Chucky is responsible for the murders and that Jesse and Jade are not guilty and then tells them that they are free to go home which they then leave to go home. As the investigator inspects Tiffany, she gives birth to a baby doll before finally dying. The baby doll then attacks the investigator and the scene cuts to black.By far, the film was the most superior in the Child’s Play Series. It was amazingly hilarious and refreshing.. We had a fresh array of characters, a brilliant Cliffhanger and a new Killer Doll. Inventive new murders were used such as the Champagne Bottle and Ceiling Mirror, the Nails in the Car and the Bus hitting that poor fellow. The film ended amazingly as Glen appeared to burst out of Tiffany’s womb, leaving the door open for Seed of Chucky.

The Griffin family experience another power outage, forcing them to reluctantly go through Return of the Jedi.Rather than setting up the plot, the opening crawl states that Fox insisted Seth MacFarlane complete the trilogy. It makes reference to his then-upcoming film Ted in the sentence, “But Fox suddenly had dollar signs in their eyes, and they said, ‘Seth, if you don’t do Jedi, we’re not gonna let you leave to go direct your movie.”Darth Vader (Stewie) arrives on the new, partially constructed Death Star, where Imperial Moff Jerjerrod (Roger from American Dad!) informs him that the new battle station no longer has the design flaws of its predecessor, except for a hole that could destroy the station if fired upon. Vader warns Moff Jerjerrod that they should fix that problem before the Emperor (Carter) arrives. On Tatooine, R2-D2 (Cleveland) and C-3PO (Quagmire) find Jabba the Hutt (Joe)’s palace in order to initiate a plan to save Han Solo (Peter), still frozen in carbonite for posterity. Leia (Lois) unfreezes Han, who releases a long fart. Their reunion is cut short when Jabba captures her and she is outfitted provocatively, and shackled by Jabba’s side. Han, meanwhile, is thrown into a prison cell with Chewbacca (Brian), who got caught eating out of Jabba’s garbage.Luke (Chris) arrives at the palace and attempts to bargain for the release of his friends. Jabba opens a trap door and Luke falls into a pit where he battles and kills the Rancor (Rush Limbaugh). Afterwards, Jabba orders Luke and his friends to be eaten by the Sarlaac (Meg). During the execution ceremony, Luke gives Jabba one last chance to release him and his friends. When Jabba refuses, Luke initiates an assault on Jabba’s crew with the help of Lando Calrissian (Mort), disguised as one of Jabba’s henchmen. Many of Jabba’s men are knocked into the Sarlaac including Boba Fett (Ernie the Giant Chicken) (according to a dying guard, Boba just fell off). Distracted by the carnage, Leia chokes Jabba using her slave chains while her fellow rebels commandeer a transport ship. Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Lando, R2-D2, and C-3PO all fly to safety.Luke and R2-D2 fly to Dagobah so Luke can finish his training with Yoda (Carl) while the others rejoin the rebel fleet. On Dagobah, Yoda explains the final part of training is to face Vader. In his dying words, Yoda reveals that Luke has a sibling. The spirit of Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert) appears to Luke and further explains that his sibling is Princess Leia, “the only damn woman in the galaxy.” The rebels begin planning an assault on the new Death Star. Admiral Ackbar (Klaus from American Dad!) explains that the plan will be the same as the last time they destroyed the Death Star, except now they must first destroy a shield generator located on the forest moon of Endor. In order to land on the forest moon of Endor, Han uses a stolen Imperial ship and old access code to sneak past the Empire’s blockade. Vader allows them passage on to the moon, knowing Luke is aboard the ship. When they reach the moon’s surface, the rebels are spotted by Imperial soldiers. The soldiers attempt to retreat to warn others of the rebel attack, but Luke and Leia stop them in an elaborate bicycle chase sequence. Separated from the others, Leia is befriended by Wicket the Ewok (Tim from The Cleveland Show). Luke, Han, Chewie and the droids fall into an Ewok trap while searching for Leia. They are captured and brought to the village where Leia is being housed. The Ewoks believe C-3PO is a god and begin to worship him. Luke tells Princess Leia they are siblings, but Leia claims to have already known that. She then introduces a Conway Twitty cutaway.Following Yoda’s advice, Luke surrenders to Vader in order to confront him. Vader tries to convince Luke to turn to the dark side. Luke refuses, but is delighted to find out that it is taco night. The two meet with the Emperor, who reveals that Luke’s friends are walking into a trap on the forest moon. When this revelation fails to anger Luke, the Emperor begins to mock actor Seth Green (who voices Chris). Luke defends Green saying that he’s been in successful projects, only to have The Emperor saying the negative side of Green’s roles. Luke becomes enraged and begins dueling with Vader. Back on the forest moon, Han leads the rebels to the shield generator. Complaining about a lack of dark plot content, he forces the three technicians inside to dig their own graves with their helmets, then ordering one of them to stab his companion to death and wear his face. Before they can carry out Han’s disturbing orders, however, the company is ambushed. The Ewoks help the rebels escape from the Imperial troops and destroy the shield generator, while Lando and Nien Nunb (Rallo from The Cleveland Show) lead the attack on the Death Star.Luke finally subdues Vader after Seth Green is further mocked, but he refuses to execute him and join the dark side at the Emperor’s request. The Emperor then incapacitates Luke with his powerful Force lightning. Because Luke asks Vader politely for help, Vader gathers his remaining strength and kills the distracted Emperor by throwing him into the reactor core. Vader and Luke manage to flee the Death Star before Lando and his crew blow it up. Unfortunately, when Vader asks Luke to help him remove his mask (to “look on you with my own eyes”), Luke accidentally twists and breaks Vader’s neck. Everyone rendezvous back at the Ewok village to celebrate the rebels victory over the Empire. While the Ewoks kill the wounded Imperials, the spirits of Obi-Wan and Yoda appear to Luke, alongside the spirit of the redeemed Anakin Skywalker (Stewie), who angrily accuses Luke of murdering him and starts swearing at him.The Griffins’ power returns just as Peter concludes the story, Meg then asks Peter “What about the prequel trilogy?” with Peter suggesting that The Cleveland Show might do the prequels (though that show’s subsequent cancellation has made such parodies impossible). After that, Chris asks Peter another question about how come he says in the story that Seth Green is a douche. Peter answers saying that in his opinion that Green has done a lot of unsuccessful projects and that Green sucks. Chris retaliates with saying that he thinks Seth MacFarlane is a douche. Peter, Stewie and Brian (all voiced by MacFarlane) defend MacFarlane as a talented young man with fresh ideas and good humor. Chris tells the three in anger that he got the whole idea of Family Guy off The Simpsons, with Meg and Lois supporting Chris that MacFarlane “only brings ten new episodes of the show a year” and “we get it, he watched a lot of television in the ’80s” (a reference to the show’s many cutaway gags referencing 1980s television). The argument ends with Peter claiming that people will just remember the laughter, before the family looks awkwardly at each other.

Anyone who has enjoyed the previous chapters of this separate feature series will find more of the same here, and if you’re like me, you will only find that a good thing. Although I must say, it also helps to refresh your memory by watching the original Star Wars film before trying this to pick up the more subtle references!!

As the Griffin family is watching television, the power suddenly goes out, leading Peter to retell the story of The Empire Strikes Back.
After the “opening crawl” an Imperial Star Destroyer deploys a series of probe droids in search of the Rebel Alliance. One of the probe droids (Joe) lands on the ice planet Hoth, where the Rebels have set up a base. Rebel commander Luke Skywalker (Chris) is patrolling when he is attacked by a large wampa (Cookie Monster) and taken back to its lair. At the base, Han Solo (Peter) announces his intention to leave the Rebellion to Princess Leia (Lois) and Carlist Rieekan (Dr. Hartman), with Leia objecting to his decision, however she denies it when confronted, saying she would rather kiss George Takei. When he finds out that Luke has not yet returned, Han sets out on his “Dondon” to find him. Luke escapes the wampa lair and has a vision of his late mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert), who tells him to go to the Dagobah system to learn the ways of the Force from Jedi Master Yoda, after offering him a bowl of Zima soup. Han quickly locates Luke, and the two are rescued soon after.
Soon after, the Empire discovers the Rebel base, and Darth Vader (Stewie) orders an attack. The Imperial fleet exits hyperspace too early, giving the Rebels time to evacuate the base while Luke leads his squadron of snowspeeders to hold off the Empire’s battalion of Imperial Walkers. Imperial stormtroopers break into the base, forcing Han to escape in the Millennium Falcon with Leia, C-3PO (Quagmire) and Chewbacca (Brian), while Luke escapes in his X-wing with R2-D2 (Cleveland), stopping to see R2’s niece’s violin recital. The Millennium Falcon enters an asteroid field and Han decides to dock inside a cave to repair the ship. They flee when they discover they have actually landed in the belly of a space slug (Meg). Meanwhile, Luke crash-lands in the swamps of Dagobah and finds Yoda (Carl) amid the foggy landscape. Yoda trains Luke, guiding him through a series of training exercises, including watching “sweet-ass DVD releases”, and a training montage that parodies Rocky IV.
family-guy-something-something-something-dark-side-20091223095413048-000Darth Vader is ordered by the Emperor (Carter) to capture Luke and turn him to the dark side of the Force. Vader recruits bounty hunters to track down and capture Luke’s friends, intending to use them as bait to trap Luke, including Raggedy Andy, whom he orders to leave. With the Millennium Falcon‍ ’s hyperdrive broken, Han and company escape by hiding amongst a field of disposed trash, but are tracked by Boba Fett (Ernie the Giant Chicken), after hitting a “space bum” collecting some of the garbage. Luke has a premonition that his friends are in danger and leaves Dagobah to save them, although he has not finished his Jedi training. Yoda initially doesn’t want him to go, but encourages it after Luke suggests Yoda fight Vader himself.
Han and the others go to Cloud City on the planet Bespin to obtain help from Han’s friend Lando Calrissian (Mort), “the only black guy in the galaxy”, only to be turned over to Darth Vader. Han willingly reveals the location of Luke and the Rebel base but is tortured by being forced to listen to Paula Cole’s “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?”, as punishment for clogging a toilet on the 16th floor of Cloud City, which forced Vader to use the “little pig people’s” bathroom. Han is used to test a carbon freezing chamber Vader intends to use on Luke to take him to the Emperor. Leia professes her love to Han, but Han tells her to fuck off and is then frozen in carbonite for posterity. Lando later double-crosses the Empire, freeing Leia, Chewbacca and C-3PO, motivating the guards with a pizza party. Despite R2-D2 having sex with the combination lock, and subsequently being discovered by her husband, to get the door open, they are too late to stop Boba Fett from flying off with Han. Luke arrives at Cloud City and, after being briefly interrupted by Ryan Seacrest on American Idol, engages Vader in a lightsaber duel. Vader cuts off Luke’s right hand. With Luke cornered and defenseless, Vader goads Luke to join the dark side, revealing that he is his father. Luke casts himself into an air shaft and, after discovering that a worker has shoved his severed hand down his pants, ends up hanging on an antenna beneath the city, calling out to Ben, Leia, and Tom Selleck. Leia senses Luke’s call from within the Millennium Falcon and has him rescued. On board a Nebulon-B frigate, Luke is fitted with an artificial hand, but told to practice masturbating with a hot dog first, while Lando, dressed in Han’s clothes, sets off with Chewbacca on the Millennium Falcon to rescue Han. Before the story ends, Luke is angry because of the way the story ends. Then he receives a letter from Doc Brown, a reference to the ending of Back to the Future Part II.
In the Griffins’ home, the power returns as Peter finishes his story, only to get into another argument with Chris over Robot Chicken. Chris vows to not let Peter get his goat this time, but eventually storms off when Peter brings up Without a Paddle.
The empire strikes back has never been spoofed to such a high degree in my opinion. If you know the family guy characters and have seen the Star Wars movies, you will love this.

While the Griffins are watching television, the power goes out and they are left with no other form of entertainment. While they wait for the power to return, Peter decides to retell the story of Star Wars beginning with “Part IV.”
A Rebel ship is captured by a Star Destroyer. On the ship are the droids C-3PO (Quagmire), R2-D2 (Cleveland) and the rebel leader Princess Leia (Lois). While the ship is boarded by stormtroopers, Leia tries to send an MPEG to Obi-Wan Kenobi through R2, but encounters so many complications that R2 offers to deliver the message himself. Leia is captured by Darth Vader (Stewie) while R2 and 3PO flee to Tatooine in an escape pod, where they are captured by Jawas.
The droids are sold to a family of moisture farmers, whose nephew Luke Skywalker (Chris) wishes to join the Rebellion and fight the Empire. While cleaning the droids, Luke stumbles upon Leia’s message inside R2, who later decides to leave the farm. Luke and C-3PO pursue him but are attacked by Sand People. Luke is knocked out by one of them (Opie) and is found by Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert), who takes them to his hut. Leia’s message explains that R2 contains the plans to the Death Star, which must be sent to her father on her home planet of Alderaan and asks Obi-Wan to help. Obi-Wan tells Luke that he must learn the ways of The Force and accompany him to Alderaan, and gives him his own lightsaber. Realizing that the Empire must be looking for the droids, Luke returns home to discover that his home has been destroyed and his aunt and uncle killed.
Luke, Obi-Wan, and the droids travel to Mos Eisley to find a pilot to take them to Alderaan. At a local cantina they hire smuggler Han Solo (Peter) and his Wookiee co-pilot Chewbacca (Brian), who agree to take them with their ship, the Millennium Falcon. The group is soon spotted by stormtroopers and they flee into space, evading the pursuing Star Destroyers before jumping into hyperspace. Leia is imprisoned on the Death Star, where commanding officer Grand Moff Tarkin (Adam West) has Alderaan destroyed. The Millennium Falcon exits hyperspace and is captured by the Death Star’s tractor beam and brought into its hangar bay. Disguising themselves as stormtroopers, Han and Luke along with Chewbacca set off to rescue the captive Princess while Obi-Wan goes to shut off the tractor beam and R2 and C3PO stay behind. Han, Luke and Chewie rescue Leia, and the four dive into a garbage chute to escape stormtroopers and find a couch. As they flee the Death Star, Obi-Wan turns off the tractor beam before being confronted by Darth Vader in a lightsaber duel. Vader strikes Obi-Wan down as the others board the Falcon, taking the couch with them.
The Falcon journeys to the Rebel base at Yavin IV, where the Rebels analyze the Death Star plans and find a weakness. Luke joins the assault team while Han collects his reward for the rescue and prepares to leave. The Rebel fighters attack the Death Star but suffer heavy losses during the assault. During his run, Luke hears Obi-Wan’s voice telling him to use the Force, and he turns off his targeting computer. Vader appears with his own group of fighters, and is about to fire at Luke’s ship when Han arrives in the Falcon and attacks Vader and his men, sending Vader’s ship off into space. Guided by the Force, Luke fires into the port, destroying the Death Star, and he returns to the Rebel base with his friends to celebrate their victory. Back at the Griffins’ home, Peter wraps up the story as the power comes back on. Everyone thanks Peter for keeping them entertained, although Chris points out that Robot Chicken already told that story.
Anyone who is a fan of Star Wars and Family Guy are going to love this special! I think the episode is a real return to top form. Extras like interviews with Seth McFarlane & George Lucas, episode commentary and a sneak preview of a reported sequel special (something, something, something dark side based on empire strikes back) I think it is worth getting.
