Autumn Reeser and Tad Hilgenbrink in Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)Chris Emerson, a young former surfing pro and his younger sister Nicole move to Luna Bay, California, following the death of their parents, to live in a house owned by their aunt Jillian. Chris leaves his address at the home of Edgar Frog, the town’s surfboard shaper, in hopes of getting a job. Chris is approached at their new home by former pro surfer, Shane Powers (the half brother of David Powers from the original film), who invites him to a party that night.Corey Feldman in Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)Chris and Nicole go to the party, where Shane and his friends Kyle, Erik and Jon are entertaining themselves with the human guests. Chris showers with a girl named Lisa and Shane gets Nicole alone, chats with her for a bit, and then tricks her into drinking his blood. When Chris learns that Nicole has been with Shane, he angrily, and protectively, takes her home, where she begins to manifest vampiric strength and rage. But before Nicole kills Chris, she is knocked out by Edgar, who reveals that he is a vampire hunter, and Nicole has been infected with vampirism. Chris throws Edgar out of the house. Then, Lisa shows up and pretends to chat with Chris for a bit before she finally tries to seduce and feed on him. In fending her off, he accidentally impales her on a mounted rack of antlers, killing her explosively when she turns into stone and explodes.Corey Feldman and Tad Hilgenbrink in Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)Finally convinced of the situation, remembering what Edgar said and believing that he was right, Chris seeks out Edgar’s help. Edgar explains that Nicole is only half-vampire, and will remain that way unless she feeds, and she can be turned human again if they kill the head vampire before that. Chris interrupts her just before she can feed on Evan Monroe, a nice guy who has been courting her, and explains what is happening to her, and Nicole is surprised at what she almost did (because she believes herself to be a vegetarian). However, Shane draws her to their lair and they have sex. Chris and Edgar—who lost an unnamed sibling to the vampires—plot for Chris to “join” the tribe of vampires in order to learn the location of their lair. He drinks Shane’s blood and begins to develop vampire traits, but when the tribe (minus Shane and Nicole) feed on a group of girls, he refuses, and kills Jon by impaling him with a stick in self-defense. Edgar joins him and they go to the lair, killing Erik and Kyle. Chris impales Erik with a large drill and Edgar kills Kyle by making his head explode with a holy water balloon.Autumn Reeser in Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008)Meanwhile, Shane goads Nicole to kill Evan, whom they have bound and gagged for her, but she refuses. With Chris’ help, she impales Shane with a stake. Just as Shane attempts to pull Nicole onto the stake with him, Chris appears with a sword and decapitates him with it, returning them both to normal. They thank Edgar, who promises to bill them for his services, and Evan takes the opportunity to ask Nicole for a date. At home, they are confronted by their aunt, who believes they have been doing drugs, and promises zero tolerance. In a mid-credits scene, Edgar encounters Sam Emerson, now a vampire. They exchange some dialogue and charge at each other as the credits resume. It would be easy to dismiss this direct to DVD effort as a cheap cash-in on a cult favourite (it is definitely a shame that a sequel to such a great 80s classic didn’t get a bigger budget and a major release); however, if you approach The Tribe with an open mind and without prejudice, then there’s a good chance you’ll find much to like about it.

At the end of the last season things were getting pretty hairy on a couple of different fronts. The subterranean abnormals who live inside the Earth have decided that they want their chance in the sun and three armies march out of caves in different parts of the planet. If that wasn’t bad enough, Magnus is battling an old companion, Adam Worth, who manages to open up a hole in time and slip back to the 1800’s with the aim of curing his terminally ill daughter. This will change the time stream irrevocably, so Magnus follows him on his one-way journey into the past in order to stop him.Christopher Heyerdahl in Sanctuary (2008)This season opens with Magnus in 19th Century London, following Worth. He manages to wound her and escape, so she turns to one person she knows she can trust, he husband at the time, James Watson Together they have to stop Worth, but even if they do, how will Magnus manage to return to the 21stCentury? She does manage it, but it takes a very long time. Meanwhile Will has been put in charge of the New York Sanctuary by the Sanctuary Network, that mysterious body that runs the various abnormal shelters around the world. He’s having a rough time, as the US military wants to actually attack the invading army, especially after there’s a revolt in the refugee compound that’s housing several Hollow Earth abnormals in which the subterranean creatures take hostages and threaten to kill them. No one in authority will take Will’s calls, and withMagnus MIA he’s clearly out of his depth.Robin Dunne and Pascale Hutton in Sanctuary (2008)After that crisis, and Magnus’ return, things are different. The government is very leery of abnormals and they create a department, SCUI, to hunt down the Hollow Earth creatures that are still on the surface. Either imprisoning the abnormals that they capture or using them for experiments it’s a race between the bad military and the saintly Sanctuary to see who can locate and capture the renegade abnormals first. There are some very good episodes in this season. Monsoon, where Magnus is held hostage by some abnormal crooks while in an airport in Africa was a high point. Seeing the unarmed Magnus take out a group of ex-military super-humans was delightful.Amanda Tapping and Pascale Hutton in Sanctuary (2008)The series does wrap up (though there is room for more adventures) It was nice that the show did get a coda. All in al lSanctuary was an excellent show that lasted four seasons and left room for more stories to be told shold Syfy every decide to bring it back.

Amanda Tapping in Sanctuary (2008)Season three sees Sanctuary taking a big step forward, and for the most part being very successful. instead of the previous two seasons 13 episode runs, this has 20 episodes, something which allows the writers to expand storylines and explore things further, bringing more depth to this seasons story arc. As always the acting from the entire cast is first rate .There is also plenty of Jonathan Young as Nikola Tesla, whos presence always lifts any episode he appears in,and guarantees some sharp dialogue.Robin Dunne and Amanda Tapping in Sanctuary (2008)This series looks better as well, and steps out of,whenever possible, the confines of a cgi generated world, something which I always believed limited it far too much.Season three sees Sanctuary setting itself up as a major league player, and staking a claim as a show to be taken seriously, and it does it very well.Giving you more than it has before, while leaving you with the impression that there is much more to come, and the desire to find out what. The Sanctuary team deal with the aftermath of the gigantic tidal wave released by Big Bertha while Will’s life remains in balance but soon the errand comes to an end once Will leads one final plea to “Kali” A.K.A. Big Bertha in his near death experience to stop the destruction. Following Will’s return to life two abnormals appear to him to rekindle his memory and in doing so Will remembers an important message that Gregory sent for Helen to find an underground city with great technology and secrets.Agam Darshi in Sanctuary (2008)Later Nikola sends an SOS call and after his rescue continues to help Helen in discovering the secrets of the city which eventually leads them to a Hollow Earth atlas. Soon Adam Worth, a former acquaintance, tricks Helen and causes radiation poisoning (that should kill both Helen and Adam in a few weeks) so that she may show Adam the Hollow Earth. Upon Adam’s interference Helen, Will, Henry and Kate enter the city to save Gregory and find a cure for the poisoning but only to be executed immediately when caught while Adam imprisons John, leaving Tesla and Big-Guy alone in the mysteries. Magnus is then revived by Ranna for answering and Magnus finds out that she needs her to help an abnormal from the events of ‘KALI’, thereby Magnus and the gang is revived and she given the cure and is reunited with her father, together Gregory and Helen save the abnormal and reach the surface back again while John kills Adam. The show returned to its original format, featuring a new short story for every episode until Tesla and Magnus discover a Praxian Stronghold. This is revealed to have been taken by Vampires and as such was a Vampire Stronghold where a whole army of Vampires and their queen were buried to be awakened someday. Magnus views this as a threat and destroys the stronghold, but not before restoring Tesla to a Vampire again.Christopher Heyerdahl in Sanctuary (2008)Season 3 has lots of fun and lots of action, with a extended season it helps to do greater story-arcs. a must watch for fans of good sci-fi.

Justin Hartley in Smallville (2001)They say timing is everything, and for me the timing of watching season 6 of Smallville for the first time was perfect. Why is that? Because this was the season that introduced their take on Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, and I got hooked on the new show about him this last season on TV.Tom Welling and Justin Hartley in Smallville (2001)Of course, before we can get to new characters, we have a few cliffhangers to resolve. While all kinds of chaos is reigning down on the citizens of Earth thanks to the evil force that has taken over Lex Luther’s body (Michael Rosenbaum), Clark Kent (Tom Welling) can’t do much about it since he’s trapped in the Phantom Zone. While he does escape and manage to save the day, he unwittingly releases the evil prisoners from the Phantom Zone and must spend some time tracking them down this season. As things return to normal, characters explore new options. Lois Lane (Erica Durance) and Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) become roommates and Lois starts a new career as a reporter for a tabloid. They also both get new boyfriends in the two new characters that are introduced.Lee Thompson Young, Kyle Gallner, Justin Hartley, and Alan Ritchson in Smallville (2001)Lois starts dating the previously mentioned Olive Queen (Justin Hartley) while Chloe falls for Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), a young photographer at The Daily Planet. Lana Lang (Kistin Kreuk), meanwhile, has moved in with Lex and their relationship becomes more serious when she finds out she is pregnant. Chloe learns a very surprising secret and is reunited with her mom as played by TV’s Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter.Tori Spelling in Smallville (2001)Other storylines of the season involve Clark and Oliver’s clashes over how to use their powers for good. Lex is collecting and hiding people with abilities. Those storylines clash when we see the first glimpse of the Justice League Smallville style. This season is really about the young adults. No one is in college any more (did they all drop out after one season or did they all graduate at lightning speed?) While Lionel Luther (John Glover) is still around being unclear in his intensions, Martha Kent (Annette O’Toole) is given very little to do. And before the season is over, one character makes an exit from the show.

Based on the “Otherworld” novels by New York Times best-selling author Kelley Armstrong, BITTEN stars Laura Vandervoort (“Smallville”, “V”, “Haven”, Ted) as Elena Michaels, the world’s only female werewolf. For three seasons, the show’s rabid followers have tuned in as Elena evolved from a photographer who hides her dark secret after being bitten, to a ferocious leader of the Stonehaven pack.Bitten (2014)BITTEN: THE FINAL SEASON picks up several months after the harrowing battle in the season two finale. Bolstering their ranks in the wake of the carnage, the Stonehaven Pack is on the hunt for the Russian Alpha and his brethren, seeking to end a decades-old vendetta. Meanwhile, Elena struggles with Pack Alpha Jeremy Danvers’ new draconian leadership style, and makes a shocking and surprising discovery about herself. This last season of Bitten sees a new leadership style with the growing pack. Elena discovers new things about herself. There’s a new foe and an attempt at stopping a long feud. And ultimately Elena must come up with a plan to save what’s remaining of the pack in Stonehaven.Bitten (2014)I watch the show mostly for Laura Vandervoort. She really captures the role and the character has grown over the past 3 seasons. I see Vandervoort staying a genre queen over the next decade. She looks good in these types of roles and in roles on Supergirl, V, and Smallville. Honestly, she’s really the only reason I kept watching it. The show had a core group of diehard fans and I think if it was on a network like The CW, it might have gotten the ratings their shows like The Originals and Vampire Diaries got. Even with a smaller budget the show looked great and had good effects. The look and production always impressed me. I think it’s more impressive than Teen Wolf and Shadowhunters.

Bitten (2014)Bitten is a great show but a short-lived one, lasting only three seasons. The show is a must for fans of Horror especially those that like werewolf shows

Tammy Isbell and Tommie-Amber Pirie in Bitten (2014)Season 2 of BITTEN starts about three days after the ending of season 1 as Elena (Laura Vandervoort) and her werewolf pack are searching for Malcolm Danvers (who has kidnapped the pregnant mate of one of their pack). They soon realize that witches also want Malcolm Danvers Season 2 introduces some new characters like witch coven leader Ruth Winterbourne and her daughter Paige as witches and werewolves may have to team up together to stop a common foe who wants to control the world of the supernatural.Tammy Isbell and Tommie-Amber Pirie in Bitten (2014)Elena wants revenge (for the murder of her Toronto boyfriend which I think was better for her than hotheaded Clay) so bad and she struggles with it. Jeremy deals with wolf pack politics as other pack heads want to take control away from him if he doesn’t bring them Malcolm Danvers.Kiara Glasco as SavannahThe second episode highlights how Clay Danvers (Greystone Holt) was bitten by a werewolf. It is interesting to see more of the power struggles involved within the worlds of the werewolf packs in addition to introducing new characters.   BITTEN is still a series for fans who loved the first season and it does good follow up on the events of season one while setting the stage for new conflicts.

Laura Vandervoort in Bitten (2014)Clay still seems like a jerk while the other werewolves are various degrees of being cold with Elena being the warm one who is in danger of losing the humanity she was fighting to keep when she left her pack before season 1.   I hope fans of the Otherworld novels (by Kelly Armstrong) will continue to check out the show and maybe even fans of the TV series will read Kelly Armstrong’s novels. I can’t wait to see how this season develops as the world of BITTEN opens up a little bit more.Laura Vandervoort as Elena Michaels and Daniel Kash as Roman NavikevLaura Vandervoort in Bitten (2014)This season The Pack gets some female visitors, when some witches come to them for their support. Tammy Isbell, Tommie Amber Pirie and Kiara Glasco are taking on the roles of Ruth Winterbourne, Paige Winterbourne, and Savannah Levine. each episodes brings a  brilliant slice of the season 2’s story arc. The Witches are a welcome addition to the show, the moment they team up with the wolves it brings new dimensions to the original cast members and enriches the series,  bring on season 3.

Laura Vandervoort in Bitten (2014)The story centres on Elena Michaels (portrayed by Laura Vandervoort), a female werewolf who is torn between a normal life with her human boyfriend Philip in Toronto and her “family” obligations as a werewolf in upstate New York. Among her pack is her ex-fiancé Clayton, who is responsible for her becoming a werewolf.Laura Vandervoort in Bitten (2014)I think this show was brilliant from episode 1 and just got better and better. I was pleased with Laura Vandervoort performance as Elena. She exhibits strength and a certain desperate vulnerability as she’s trying to maintain a “normal” life. Once I got beyond the lack of accent and curls, Greyston’s portrayal of Clay has me intrigued – he’s got the seriousness down pat – and eager to see how he interacts with Elena.Laura Vandervoort in Bitten (2014)I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Logan’s character. As with any adaptation, the thing you have to remember is that what works for a book doesn’t always work for television/film. It’s a different medium so the story must be adapted accordingly. Give the actors a chance. Give the writers a chance. Let’s see what they can do. And at the end of the day, if it helps, remember that these are Kelley’s characters and what’s shown on tv doesn’t change what you read in the books.Greg Bryk and Laura Vandervoort in Bitten (2014)Her books are cannon. The tv show is just a fun adaptation and a new way to look at some of the characters we love. If you don’t like it, don’t watch. As for me, I love these characters so much. The story arc for the season goes at an even pace and the season one cliffhanger is so shocking it keeps wanting more.
