Child psychologist Catherine Deane (Jennifer Lopez) is an expert in an experimental treatment for coma patients: a virtual reality device that allows her to enter into the minds of her patients and attempt to coax them into consciousness. When serial killer Carl Rudolph Stargher (Vincent D’Onofrio) falls into a coma before the FBI can locate his final victim, Agent Peter Novak (Vince Vaughn) persuades Deane to enter Stargher’s mind and discover the victim’s location. Stargher’s victim is imprisoned in a cell in the form of a glass enclosure that is slowly filling with water by means of an automatic timer.

Deane enters Stargher’s twisted mind, where she is confronted by both the violent and the innocent parts of the killer’s psyche. The innocent half shows her the abuse he suffered at his father’s hands and the birth of his pathology when he drowned an injured bird as a mercy killing. Deane attempts to nurture the innocent side of Stargher’s mind, but his murderous half thwarts her at every turn.

Despite Deane’s best efforts, she becomes trapped in Stargher’s dark dreamscape. Novak volunteers to enter Stargher’s mind and attempts to rescue her. He breaks Deane from Stargher’s hold and discovers clues to the whereabouts of his victim. Novak relates his revelations to his team and they are able to track down the location of Stargher’s victim (Stargher had been entrusted by a company to take care of an advanced water pump, which he used to fill the cell with water). Novak discovers Stargher’s secret underground room and saves Stargher’s victim just in time. Meanwhile, Deane decides to reverse the process and pull Stargher’s mind into her own. She presents Stargher’s innocent side with a paradise, but his murderous side is always present and manifests as a serpent. This time, however, Deane has all the power; she attacks the serpent/Stargher but discovers she cannot destroy one half without killing the other. Stargher’s innocent side reminds her of the bird he drowned, and she kills Kyu to put him out of his misery. She adopts Stargher’s dog and successfully uses her new technique on her other coma patient (Colton James).

This film is visually amazing – the exploration of what goes on psychologically shown visually like a dream.  I would not recommend this film for sensitive viewers, or those who become can be easily disturbed,

what-happened-to-the-cast-of-mighty-morphin-power-rangers-876016It’s a dark and stormy night at Angel Grove High School, and Adam is staying late to study while Tanya is asleep and Bulk and Skull are on night patrol. When Tanya gets up to leave, Bulk and Skull warn her that it’s a full moon tonight and that unusual things can happen under it, but Tanya just laughs and agrees to walk them home. As he studies, Adam is distracted by the television as it begins playing a favorite old monster movie of his, The Bride of Hackensack, and he ends up falling asleep on the sofa.vlcsnap-4951117Later, Adam is rudely woken up when a black cat runs into the room. Adam chases it, only to run into Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd as they stand in the darkened hallway of the high school. They tell him that while he slept, the Machine Empire took over the planet and brainwashed his friends. Adam’s only hope is to follow the cat as it leads him to a powerful sorcerer, and he must also collect the cape of a vampire, the hair of a werewolf, the wrappings of a mummy, and the eye of a cat in order to earn the sorcerer’s trust and turn back the Machines. As Adam steps through a door, he finds himself in a black-and-white world and meets a vampire named Tomacula as a familiar-looking bartender serves drinks to him and his friends… except Tomacula wants something a little more fresh from Adam’s veins. King Mondo suddenly appears to taunt Adam and send down Cogs, and Adam grabs Tomacula’s cape while he’s distracted.Vulgar-2000-movie-Bryan-Johnson-3A voice suddenly calls out as a rope appears. Adam climbs it and appears in a forest where he meets Lord Henry. He and the villagers are on watch for a werewolf in the area, but Adam finds out that Henry himself is the werewolf. When Henry falls into the bushes, Adam grabs some of his caught hair and flees. After meeting with the local Burgermeister, Adam is directed to a nearby cave where a professor is researching the tomb of Prince Bulkenhotep. The mummified prince wakes up and chases them until Adam helps him unwind by pulling his wrappings off. Adam leaves the cave and arrives inside a strange laboratory, where Dr. William von Hackensack and his assistant Eye-Gor are at work creating a zombie bride. Suddenly, the cat reappears and transforms into Valencia, queen of the witches. She demands that Adam submits to her power, but he takes her cat’s-eye pendant and she melts away.hqdefaultThe four items gathered, Adam finally reaches the wizard Zordonicus, who forces him to choose one of his friends to fight the evil Drill Master. When Adam asks himself what Tommy would do in his situation, Zordonicus accepts it as Adam’s answer and sends Tommy into the battle. Tommy struggles against Drill Master, but he ultimately triumphs over the monster. Adam demands that Zordonicus revert the world to normal, but the sorcerer reveals himself to be King Mondo and sends monsters to destroy him. Adam is suddenly jostled awake by Tommy, Kat, Tanya, and Rocky. As it turns out, Adam had slept through the whole night and suffered through one big nightmare. While Bulk and Skull pass through chasing what looks like the cat from his dream, Adam sees a TV commercial for an encore showing of The Bride of Hackensack. The other Rangers plan to watch it later, but Adam decides to pass on the offer as he’s had enough of scary movies.bxhNrwGiTlvy2rmH7S3zpGO9N8OAn excellent episode one of the best Halloween specials and indeed one of the best episodes ever.

PowerRangersSuperNinjaSteelFallEpisodeTitlesDescriptions072218It’s easy to overlook that Power Rangers has never really gone away. Power Rangers has been going strong for over twenty years, with a new season debuting almost every year since 1993. 2018 is no different, with Power Rangers super  Ninja Steel kicking off the latest iteration of the long-running franchise.234058964328968563498Super Ninja Ninja Steel does a great job of jumping right into the action, indulging in the sort of “just go with it” storytelling that works best with Power Rangers. In quick order, we’re introduced to a number of high concepts – The Return of Madame Odius, the setting up of her show Galaxy Warriors season 2… And The Return of Sledge who returns in the opening episode if only briefly.  Also introduced is The Super Ninja Armor for when they are in the Zords.DimensionsInDangerI enjoyed Super Ninja Steel from beginning to end, Madame Odius is a much better villain than Galvanax. In the mid season finale where she defeats the Rangers and dispatches the zords is brilliant and the wait for Episode 9 was painful. Episode 10 the big crossover events shows how a crossover should be in the returning rangers are all favorites of mine. It was great to see Catherine Sutherland , I was always saddened when she left the Show. The Big finale was awesome too finally seeing the Madame Odius defeated and The Rangers victorious. The season has its ups and down, but all in all a great season, and leads you wanting more , Bring on Beast Morphers in 2019.

The Second Power Rangers unlike the first actually does fir into the series, set Before Power Rangers Turbo. Though the movie has had mixed reviews I personally enjoyed it. On the distant planet Liaria, a wizard named Lerigot is fleeing for his life from unseen enemy forces. In desperation, he uses a magical key in his possession to teleport away from them.  In the city of Angel Grove, Power Rangers Tommy Oliver, Adam Park, and Rocky DeSantos are training for an upcoming martial arts charity tournament, but Rocky’s lack of focus while training causes him to fail a jumping kick and land on his spine, critically injuring him. Elsewhere in the city, their fellow Rangers Katherine Hillard and Tanya Sloan are on a school bus helping the children of the Little Angel’s Haven orphanage. Among the kids is a young boy named Justin Stewart, who is stuck in the orphanage due to his father always working and never being around. Kat tries to cheer him up, but Justin shrugs her off.eb41510440d497aff7286336ca6da338--power-rangers-turbo-power-rangers-movieBack on Liaria, the alien pirate Divatox admonishes her soldiers for failing to capture Lerigot and orders her subordinates Rygog and Elgar to find him immediately. They trace the wizard’s path to Earth, and Divatox deduces that he is seeking refuge with Zordon. Their Subcraft immediately lifts off from Liaria and flies towards Earth. At the hospital, Justin comes in to visit Rocky but hides under his bed as the other Rangers come in to pay their sympathy to him. Their communicators suddenly go off as Zordon summons them to the Power Chamber, unaware that Justin has overheard them. Inside the Power Chamber, Zordon and Alpha 5 explain that Lerigot is being pursued by Divatox as part of her plan to awaken and marry the fire demon Maligore, who sleeps on the island of Muranthias. In his panic, Lerigot has landed in the African wilderness and is now at risk of dying from heatstroke. Tommy and Kat agree to locate the wizard and bring him to safety. As they arrive on Earth, Divatox has Elgar capture two humans “of purity and strength” to be used as sacrifices for Maligore. Elgar brings her Bulk and Skull, security guards working under Jerome Stone who had gotten lost on their way to the International Dance-a-Thon when they were captured. Disgusted at his poor choice of sacrifices, Divatox orders Elgar to try again and throws the pair in the Subcraft’s hold.

After a long and dangerous search through Africa, Tommy and Kat find a passed-out Lerigot and revive him with supplies from their Power Boxes, then take him to the Power Chamber to recover. They are soon contacted by Divatox, who demands that Lerigot be surrendered to her immediately. To emphasize, she reveals that she has captured Lerigot’s wife and child, Yara and Bethel, as well as former Power Rangers Jason Lee Scott and Kimberly Ann Hart (both captured while they were scuba-diving), and that she will kill them all if the wizard does not surrender.

On the beach, the Rangers are unable to stop Lerigot as he willingly surrenders to Divatox, and her forces throw back what appear to be Jason and Kimberly into the water as they take him away. The Rangers quickly discover them to be nothing but their empty scuba-suits. Back in the Subcraft, Jason and Kimberly are put in the hold next to Bulk and Skull as they await their fate as Maligore’s sacrifices.  Zordon explains that Lerigot’s magical key is required to ensure safe passage through the Nemesis Triangle, which prevents all ships from reaching Muranthias. A vessel known as the Ghost Galleon can pass through the Triangle, but the Rangers’ current powers will not suffice for this journey. Instead, Zordon creates a new form of power to protect them — the Turbo Keys and Turbozords. Now the Turbo Rangers, Tommy, Kat, Tanya, and Adam quickly adjust to their new Turbozords, the Red Lightning, Wind Chaser, Dune Star, and Desert Thunder, though Rocky’s Mountain Blaster must stay behind due to his injuries. The Rangers arrive at the rendezvous point where the Ghost Galleon awaits its passengers. Before the Rangers board, the Mountain Blaster arrives with its driver… Justin. He explains that he had followed the Rangers to the Power Chamber and was given Zordon’s blessing to become the Blue Turbo Ranger. Now five-strong, the Rangers load the Turbozords onto the Galleon and begin their journey,  Though the Rangers’ Turbo Keys renders the Galleon invisible to Divatox’s Subcraft, Divatox spots them through the periscope and deploys Putra Pods to climb aboard the Galleon and destroy them, though they are fought off. Down in the holds, Jason and Kimberly attempt to escape by pulling apart a bulkhead, a dangerous plan that very nearly drowns them. While Kimberly escapes with Bulk and Skull, Jason snags his shirt and is unable to follow before Divatox seals the bulkhead with the emergency hatch and leaves him trapped. She is displeased that Maligore is going to have to deal with one sacrifice.

After forcing Lerigot to have her Subcraft pass through the Nemesis Triangle, Divatox is shocked to see the Rangers still tailing her, and a call for advice from Rita Repulsa proves useless. The Subcraft fires torpedoes at the Galleon to destroy it, but the Rangers escape to their Turbozords and drive on the ocean surface to reach Muranthias. Kimberly is also found by the Malichians, though Bulk and Skull are left to fend for themselves. Upon making landfall, Divatox convinces the native Malichians (who have Kimberly in their possession) to lead her to Maligore’s temple where they worship him.  Morphing with their Turbo Keys for the first time, the Turbo Rangers give chase to the temple, where Divatox is preparing to throw Jason and Kimberly to the Pit of Eternal Flame and awaken Maligore with a pre-nuptial snack. She sends her Piranhatrons to delay the Rangers as the sacrifices are made and Jason and Kimberly are reincarnated as Maligore’s evil minions.

Turbo A Power Rangers Movie RangersThe Rangers are barely able to keep their own friends from killing them, but Lerigot and Yara use their combined power to restore the pair to normal, allowing the Rangers to draw their Turbo Weapons and focus on the Pirahnatrons. Divatox throws Elgar to the Pit as a new sacrifice, awakening Maligore as he begins throwing the Rangers around effortlessly.3237330e901780d08b3fc4168e9a8a35When Maligore grows in size, the Rangers summon their Turbozords to unite into the Turbo Megazord. After a fierce fight, Maligore is destroyed by the Turbo Megazord, and Divatox flees for her life while swearing revenge on the Power Rangers as the volcano erupts. After recovering Bulk and Skull, the Rangers return to Angel Grove in time for the martial arts tournament. Tommy ultimately wins the tournament, winning a sizable charity donation to the Little Angel’s Haven as well. The Rangers later return to the Power Chamber to see Lerigot and his family off as they go home to Liaria.Turbo A Power Rangers Movie MaligoreAn excellent entry into the power rangers franchise and served as a gateway to Power Rangers Turbo

Power Rangers: Zeo is possibly Power Rangers at it’s best (or Power Rangers in Space). Although the original costumes, command center, zords, and villains have become the main icons for Power Rangers, I personally love the costumes, zords, the power chamber (wow, it looks so cool), and the new villains. The Machine Empire are very entertaining villains, but we get the feeling that they’re also very evil. During the first portion of the show, before we get much storyline, the episodes are absolutely fantastic. It’s great. We then start to move away from individual episodes to having more storyline in the overall show when Tommy goes on a personal journey, and we find out about his brother. We then get a bunch of episodes about the mysterious gold ranger, and as soon as we find out who he is, Jason returns and gets the powers. We then see the Machine Empire changing leaders around, until the final couple of episodes. Power Rangers: Zeo also includes my favorite Power Rangers Christmas/Holiday special, one that celebrates the many different holiday.

Power Rangers: Turbo is considered by many fans to be one of the worst. However, I think it had some fantastic episodes, and even though it wasn’t always as epic as previous seasons, it was still very enjoyable. With Turbo, they’re up against a whiny woman with her clumsy henchmen, and they have new car-themed powers. Although the new villain, Divatox, is nowhere near as menacing as the Machine Empire (or even Rita and Zedd), she and her henchmen always entertain the audience. Their car-themed powers might seem to be a step down from the previous season, but their equipment proves itself to be very useful for these newer situations. Also, a lot of fans might have complained about the newest member of the team being a twelve-year-old boy, but he actually proves himself to be extremely competent. I also think it had a great movie to start it out, which isn’t included in this boxed set, but you should buy it. We have some pretty good episodes at the beginning, and then there is a switchover of rangers. Except for Justin, the kid, all the previous rangers are replaced. The new team is TJ, Cassie, Carlos, Ashley, and, as already mentioned, Justin. We don’t get major introductions to them before they become rangers although Carlos and Ashley appear in a couple of episodes beforehand. However, we get to know them well when they become rangers, and there are some pretty good episodes here. The story-arcs are not my personal favorites, but the individual episodes are mostly great, especially around the end. Although Turbo is not a favorite amongst fans, I find it to be very enjoyable, and a great set-up to the next season. It ends with a two-parter called Chase Into Space, where all of the rangers, except for Justin, leave Earth.

Power Rangers in Space is possibly my favorite, and a favorite for many other fans as well. Zeo is definitely a close second for me, but Power Rangers in Space takes things to a whole new level. The four rangers that replaced the previous rangers in Turbo join up with a ranger from outer space, named Andros. They have high-tech (mostly computer-based) powers, and they regularly travel space. The storyline is large. Power Rangers: Turbo ends where Zordon (who gave them their powers at the beginning) is captured by the monarch of all evil. Power Rangers in Space begins where the villains for all of the previous shows are together at a feast. We are introduced to the new villain, Astronema. Although she is joined by Elgar, the most clumsy henchman, from the previous season, we get the addition of Ecliptor, possibly one of the most impressive henchmen that we’ve seen so far. He’s show to be stronger than any of the other henchmen they’ve been up against, and his relationship with Astronema is much more complex than what we have had so far in Power Rangers.

We are also introduced to Darkonda, possibly the most evil of the villains we’ve had. He and Ecliptor also are rivals with each other, and we get something much more complex than heroes vs. villains. It gets even more complex when we find out that Astronema is Andros’ long lost sister, Karone, and Ecliptor even helps her help the rangers. However, the two of them are brainwashed, and we then get evil power rangers. There is a fantastic story-arc here about the psycho rangers. In previous seasons, we’ve seen evil power rangers, but those rangers were fairly easy to defeat. The psycho rangers, however, are difficult to defeat. Another major part of the storyline is their search for Zordon throughout space. This season ends with a resolution to all of the previous seasons of Power Rangers resolved. Usually for closing seasons (which this was partially meant to be), they regularly bring back people from all the previous seasons to reflect on the show. However, I’m, in many ways, glad that they didn’t do that. There was a little bit of that, but mostly not. This was an amazing season, and it ended the continuous storyline.

Lost Galaxy really has a lot of good upside to it, despite some of its flaws and occasional spotty writing. This season was one of the darkest, with more casualties in this season than any other season, with notable casualties including Kendrix and the Magna Defender (first two rangers to be killed in battle), and the Magna Defender’s son, Zika. Lost Galaxy has a strong cast with some very likable characters such as Leo, Kai, Kendrix, Karone, Maya, and the Magna Defender. While I typically don’t like seeing copy and paste story arcs from the Sentai counterpart, I felt the story surrounding the Magna Defender, Mike, and Leo which was coppied from Gingaman, was well done and fit in really well with the Lost Galaxy story, especially considering Leo’s character, how he cared for his brother, and snuck onto Terra Venture initially. Also adding to the story was the excellent team-up with In Space, the story surrounding Kendrix’s death (unfortunate due to her actress Valarie Varone having leukimia), and Karone’s story as her replacement. Many of the villains are awesome and sympathetic, such as Trakeena, Villamax, and Deviot. The final battle was pretty good as well. Fight scenes were awesome and even the American footage was good during this season. This season’s theme song was also really cool.quasar-sabers-lights-of-orion-lost-galaxy

In 1993. It was an intriguing time in the United States as we saw elements of Japanese pop culture starting to make its way to television. From Japanese animation being shown on television, so was a sentai series known as “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”.mmpr-4

Based on the 16th installment of the Super Sentai franchise and known as “Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger” in Japan, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” became an amazing hit as it aired on Fox Kids and made Saban Entertainment a household name for people growing up at that time. Instead of releasing the Japanese version of the series and providing an English dub, Saban Entertainment wrote new episodes and just used the footage featuring the action sequences including the rangers and their mecha vehicles incorporated to the new footage. “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” was a simple story focusing on five teenagers in the fictional city of Angel Grove, California. The five teenagers, who are good friends, included the fitness jock Jason Lee Scott (as portrayed by Austin St. John), the dancer Zack Taylor (as portrayed by Walter Jones), the gymnast Kimberly Hart (As portrayed by Amy Jo Johnson), the intelligent Billy Cranston (as portrayed by David Yost) and the always happy Trini Kwan (as portrayed by Thuy Trang).the_power_is_on___power_rangers_2017_movie_v2_by_bilico86-da2fbbo
While the teens put hang out at a teen Youth Center owned by Ernie (As portrayed by Richard Genelle) and are often upset at the local wannabe bullies Bulk (as portrayed by Paul Schrier) and Skull (as portrayed by Jason Narvy), everyone likes to have fun at the center.y4cA0YbWhile in space, two astronauts discover an extraterrestrial container and when they open it, they inadvertently release the evil alien sorceress named Rita Repulsa who was confined in the container for over 10,000 years. And now Rita has her sights of conquering the planet Earth with her evil space aliens and monsters. The wise sage known as Zordon, who was responsible for capturing Rita and confining her, now needs to make sure Earth is protected. So, Zodon has his robotic assistant named Alpha 5, find five teenagers who can help defend the Earth from Rita’s attacks. And the five teenagers are brought to headquarters to meet Zordon and Alpha 5 and find out that they have been selected to defend the Planet Earth from Rita Repulsa’s attacks. They will be given the power of the Power Rangers, dino-powered warriors of goodness. Jason becomes Red Ranger, Zack becomes Black Ranger, Billy becomes Blu Ranger, Trini becomes Yellow Ranger and Kimberly becomes Pink Ranger. The five are given weapons and a vehicle to control. And when their opponent becomes too strong for all five to challenge, the five can use their vehicles to become one huge robot known as the Megazord. As the five teens use their new powers to defend the planet from Rita Repulsa’s monsters, a new teenager with martial arts skills shows up in Angel Grove. His name is Tommy Oliver (portrayed by Jason David Frank), who has the power of the Green Ranger, but is he friend or foe? As the first season focused on Rita trying to use the Tommy/green power ranger against the Power Rangers and then trying to regain the power, the second season would introduce new antagonists.

In season two, Rita Repulsa’s superior, Lord Zedd has arrived and upset with her performance, he throws her into the space dumpster and focuses on his own personal campaign to conquer Earth. But because of the new threat, Zordon and Alpha upgrade the Dinozords into the Thunderzords, with the exception of Tommy who must continue to use the Dragonzord.

Meanwhile, as Zedd ties to focus on eliminating Tommy, Zed creates a special green crystal in order to take away the powers of the Green Ranger and also power up Zedd’s Dark Rangers. Meanwhile, Jason, Zack and Trini are chosen to attend the World Peace Conference in Switzerland and that means that the Power Rangers will need new members. And the three’s powers are transferred over to new members Rocky DeSantos (portrayed by Steve Cardenas), the new red ranger; Adam Park (portrayed by Johnny Yong Bosch), the new black ranger and Aisha Campbell (portrayed by Karan Ashley); the new yellow ranger. This will eventually lead to a new storyline featuring a transformation of Tommy into the White Ranger with a Tigerzord and become the new leader of the group. As for Rita Repulsa, she makes her re-appearances, albeit with a special makeover to have a younger and prettier face. Thus creating two power-house antagonists that the Rangers must contend with.In season three, a new antagonist known as Rito Revolto (Rita’s skeletal brother) has now arrived on Earth and showing his might, destroys the Power Rangers Thunderzords and even the Tiger Zord. Needing new zords, the Power Rangers seek the creator of the Power Coins, Ninjor and the result is the creation of powerful Ninjazords and the Falconzord and later to the Shogunzords.the_power_is_on___power_rangers_2017_movie_v2_by_bilico86-da2fbbo
The third season introduces us to Katherine Hillard (portrayed by Catherine Sutherland) who arrives from Australia to Angel Grove and becomes the new replacement for Kimberly who chooses to pursue her dreams of competing in the Pan Global Games and becomes the new Pink Ranger. The third season also, introduces us to Rita’s father, Master vile and turns the Power Rangers into children and leads to the ten-episode mini-series (a.k.a. Season 3.5), Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers (which is included in the season three DVD release).

With Master Vile using the Orb of Doom to turn the Power Rangers into children, Zordon recruits the Alien Rangers of Aquitar for their help. Meanwhile, Billy tries to find a way to restore everyone back to their normal ages and that is to find the fragments of the Zeo Crystal.the_power_is_on___power_rangers_2017_movie_v2_by_bilico86-da2fbbo
