He wanders into the town of Absolution, where preacher Meacham treats his wound. Sheriff Taggart recognizes the stranger as wanted outlaw Jake Lonergan and attempts to arrest him. Jake beats up the posse sent to take him in and nearly escapes, but a woman named Ella Swenson knocks him out. Taggart prepares to transport both Jake and volatile drunk Percy Dolarhyde to Santa Fe for trial.

He also demands Jake be released to him, since Jake had stolen gold from him. During the standoff, alien spacecraft begin attacking the town. Percy, the sheriff and other townsfolk are abducted by long, whip-like feelers hanging from the bottom of the ships. Jake’s shackle unfolds and becomes a weapon; he shoots down a ship, ending the attack.

Dolarhyde, Ella, and other townsfolk form a posse to track an injured alien that escaped from the downed ship. Meanwhile, Jake travels to an abandoned cabin and, in a flashback, recalls returning to it with stolen gold and then being abducted, along with a woman named Alice, by the aliens. His memories returning, Jake joins up with the posse. During the evening, the group comes upon a capsized paddle wheel steamboat that the aliens apparently dumped miles from any water. They camp in it, and during the night the alien they were tracking kills Meacham, who sacrifices himself to save Emmett, Taggart’s grandson.

By morning, most of the posse has deserted, and those remaining are attacked by Jake’s former gang. Jake, who had stolen the gang’s loot after their last heist, attempts to retake control but it is foiled. The aliens begin attacking them again and Ella is captured. Jake jumps aboard the ship and attacks the alien pilot, causing the ship to crash fatally wounding Ella. The remaining posse is captured by Chiricahua Apache Native Americans, who blame them for the alien attacks. After Ella’s corpse is dumped on a fire by a Chiricahua warrior, she is resurrected and emerges from the fire. Ella reveals herself to be from another alien race, who had travelled to Earth to help resist the invaders after they destroyed her home world. The aliens, who are mining gold and abducting people to conduct experiments to find humans’ weaknesses, are far stronger and more durable than humans, and have superior weaponry, but are not invulnerable. They can be stabbed and shot to death, but only Jake’s gauntlet weapon or a well-aimed shot with a rifle can kill them with a single blast. Ella says the aliens that previously attacked them are just scouts.

After taking medicine offered by the Apaches’ medicine man, Jake recalls that Alice was euthanized after she was used in an alien experiment, but he had escaped, inadvertently stealing the gauntlet-like alien weapon encasing his wrist. He then also remembers the location of the aliens’ base of operations. Armed with this knowledge, the group, now led by Dolarhyde, prepares to attack the aliens’ grounded mother ship. Meanwhile, Jake returns to his old gang and persuades them to join the fight. After the humans maneuver the aliens into a ground battle, Jake and Ella board the ship and free the captives, but Jake is captured. Dolarhyde rescues him and both men escape the ship after killing the alien responsible for Alice’s death. As the remaining aliens are taking off in their damaged craft, Ella sacrifices herself by entering the ship’s core and destroying it by using Jake’s wrist gauntlet as a bomb, obliterating the alien ship.
Olivia Wilde in Cowboys & Aliens (2011)With the aliens gone the abducted townsfolk begin to remember their pasts. Still a wanted man, Jake decides to leave, though the sheriff and Dolarhyde say they will claim he was killed in the invasion. The citizens intend to reconstruct their town.https://kevinfoyle.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/75bf3-cowboys2526aliens-danielcraig-harrisonford.jpgAfter a somewhat slow start, Cowboys And Aliens turns into a fun scifi western. It’s a surprisingly dark and gritty film, playing like a straight western at first. Imagine you’re watching an old John Wayne movie. You’re enjoying it, and suddenly alien spaceships come out of nowhere blasting everything in sight and kidnapping the locals. Very good fx and good action scenes make this a fun movie.

Christian Bale in Hostiles (2017)In 1892, settler Rosalee Quaid and her family are attacked by a Comanche war group who kill and scalp her husband and also shoot and kill her three children. Only Rosalee manages to escape the attack by hiding in a small rock outcrop in the forest. In Fort Berringer, New Mexico, Captain Joseph Blocker rounds up an escaping Apache family and brings them back to the fort. He is then called to the office of Colonel Abraham Biggs, who informs him of his final orders before retirement. On a directive from President Harrison, he is to escort dying Cheyenne war chief, Yellow Hawk, and four members of his family back to their tribal lands in Montana.Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike in Hostiles (2017)Under threat of a court-martial and loss of his pension, Blocker reluctantly accepts, despite his own gory history with the chief, who was responsible for the death of several of his friends and comrades. Blocker chooses the detail that will accompany him: his trusty old friend, First Sergeant Thomas Metz, long-time aide Corporal Woodson, and promising newcomer Lieutenant Kidder, fresh from West Point. Biggs also assigns to the detail a young French-speaking recruit, Private Desjardins.Q'orianka Kilcher, Rosamund Pike, Tanaya Beatty, and Xavier Horsechief in Hostiles (2017)They begin their journey but Blocker orders a stop and has the two native men put in chains. The group comes across the charred Quaid house and dead settler. Inside the house, they find Rosalee and her three “sleeping” children. Rosalee is initially hostile towards the Cheyenne family because of the attack on her family but agrees to sleep in their camp after some coaxing from Blocker. She is convinced to bury her family and join Blocker’s detail until their next stop-over. They are soon ambushed by the Comanche party, resulting in Desjardins’s death and Woodson being seriously wounded. After this attack, Yellow Hawk convinces Blocker that it is in everyone’s best interest to unchain him and his family. The next day, the bodies of the surviving Comanche party, who had managed to flee during their previous encounter, are discovered dead. Blocker deduces that Yellow Hawk and his son, Black Hawk, killed them thanks to Metz allowing them to leave the camp during the night.Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike in Hostiles (2017)After a brief stop at Fort Winslow in Colorado to drop off the wounded Woodson and widow Rosalee, Blocker is asked to take disgraced Sergeant Charles Wills, who killed a family with an ax, to be court-martialed and hanged at his original post along the way to Montana. Joining Blocker’s company to oversee Wills are Corporal Tommy Thomas and Sergeant Malloy. Meanwhile, Rosalee decides to continue on with Blocker, despite being offered sanctuary at Fort Winslow until the next supply train at Christmas. One night, the women are abducted by three fur traders as they wash dishes in the stream by their camp. The company, assisted by Yellow Hawk and Black Hawk, track down the fur traders, slaughter them and rescue the women; however, Sergeant Malloy is killed. During a downpour, Wills fools Kidder into sympathetically undoing his chains, then kills him and escapes, but not before Blocker wounds him. Metz tracks down and kills Wills, then takes his own life, succumbing to decades of post-traumatic stress and guilt. Blocker subsequently makes peace with Yellow Hawk for all of the harms they have inflicted upon each other.Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike in Hostiles (2017)They arrive at the chief’s tribal lands in Montana where he succumbs to his illness and is buried. A man and his three sons ride up, state that they own the land, and order Blocker and the rest of the group to leave with the chief’s body. Blocker informs them of his presidential authority but a brutal gun battle ensues leaving only three survivors: Blocker, Rosalee, and Yellow Hawk’s young grandson, Little Bear. In the final scene, Rosalee and Little Bear reluctantly depart on a train from Montana to Chicago, without Blocker, but, at the last second, Blocker steps onto the back of the train and into the carriage.Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike in Hostiles (2017)Christian Bale delivers a knockout performance. As the conflicted & haunted Cavalry officer, Bale portrays the part with rare conviction. Its no new fact that Bale is among our greats, but ‘Hostiles’ shows us a side of his that may have just put him up there, right next to the all-time screen giants. What a wonderfully nuanced performance by Bale. Of the rest of the cast, Wes Studi portrays his complex part fantastically. Rosamund Pike is restrained. She’s controlled & believable all through. Jesse Plemons is solid, as always. Ben Foster plays a yet another unlikable character, with the perfect blend of menace & insanity. Rory Cochrane is first-rate. Timothée Chalamet makes a very brief appearance, yet he does his bit nicely. Stephen Lang, again in a cameo, is outstanding! Others lend good support.

On the whole, ‘Hostiles’ demands a viewing on the strength of its sheer merits. Don’t Miss This One!

In the aftermath of Superman’s death, intelligence officer Amanda Waller assembles Task Force X, a team of dangerous criminals imprisoned at Belle Reve Prison consisting of elite hitman Deadshot, former psychiatrist Harley Quinn, pyrokinetic ex-gangster El Diablo, opportunistic thief Captain Boomerang, genetic mutation Killer Croc, and specialized assassin Slipknot. They are placed under command of Colonel Rick Flag to be used as disposable assets in high-risk missions for the United States government. Each member has a nano bomb implanted in their neck, designed to detonate should any member rebel or try to escape.

One of Waller’s intended recruits is Flag’s girlfriend Dr. June Moone, an archaeologist possessed by a witch-goddess known as the “Enchantress”. Enchantress quickly turns on Waller, deciding to eradicate humankind with a mystical weapon for imprisoning her. She besieges Midway City by transforming its populace into a horde of monsters, and summons her brother to assist her. Waller then deploys the squad to extract a high-profile mark from Midway, which is reported to be under a terrorist attack.

Harley’s homicidal lover, the Joker, finds out about her predicament and tortures Belle Reve Security Officer Griggs into leading him to the facility where the nano bombs are made. There, he blackmails one of the program’s scientists into disabling Harley’s bomb. On approach, the squad’s helicopter is shot down, forcing them to proceed on foot to their target. Boomerang inaccurately convinces Slipknot that the bombs are a ruse to keep them in check; Slipknot attempts to escape and Flag kills him via his nano bomb, while the squad is attacked by Enchantress’ minions. They eventually manage to fight their way through to a safe room, where they learn that their mark is Waller herself, who is attempting to cover up her involvement in Enchantress’ siege.

The squad escorts Waller to a rooftop for extraction, but the arriving helicopter has been hijacked by the Joker and his men, who open fire on the squad while Harley climbs aboard. However, Waller’s men shoot down the helicopter, and Harley falls out while the Joker is presumed dead, after which Harley rejoins the squad. Alerted to Waller’s whereabouts, Enchantress’ minions arrive and kidnap her. Deadshot finds Waller’s confidential files and learns the truth about Enchantress. Flag is then forced to confess the truth, causing the squad members to abandon him. With Waller compromised, Flag relieves the squad of the mission, but chooses to continue. Realizing they have an opportunity to prove themselves, they soon rejoin him and locate Enchantress at a partially-flooded subway station. Killer Croc and a group of Navy SEALs, led by Lieutenant GQ Edwards, go underwater to plant a bomb underneath her brother. El Diablo embraces his abilities and manages to distract Incubus long enough for the bomb to detonate underneath, killing them both as well as Edwards.

The remaining squad members battle Enchantress together, but are ultimately defeated. Enchantress offers to fulfill their deepest desires in exchange for their allegiance, and Harley feigns interest in order to get close enough to cut out Enchantress’s heart. Killer Croc then throws explosives into Enchantress’ weapon and Deadshot shoots them, destroying the device. Flag takes Enchantress’s heart and crushes it, finally freeing June from the curse. Waller, still alive, emerges, and the squad members are returned to Belle Reve with ten years off their sentences. All but Captain Boomerang are allowed special privileges. The Joker, alive and unscathed, breaks into the penitentiary and rescues Harley. In a mid-credits scene, Waller meets with Bruce Wayne, who agrees to protect her from the backlash of Enchantress’s rampage in exchange for access to the government’s files on the expanding metahuman community.Love this film. Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jared Leto play there parts amazingly well and the other characters in the film were brilliant too ( but i really wanted to see this film for Harley and Joker and i was not disappointed). A Great introduction for Harley Quinn to the DC Cinematic Universe, with more to come Margot Robbie will  quickly become the definition of Harley Quinn.

Don’t be mislead into thinking this is your typical horror movie, it’s not. I bought it expecting a horror movie and instead found it to be an emotionally touching yet disturbing film based on the true story of how Native Americans were mistreated in boarding schools. It did remind me of a TV drama and some of the acting wasn’t amazing, but it’s a fascinating film and I admire the cast and crew for bringing such a horrible part of American history to the public eye.

Sailor O’Connor (Purcell) is a retired Irish boxer, who has not once been knocked down in the 63 matches he’s fought. O’Connor’s mother Rose (McCarthy) is dying of cancer and Sailor wants to take her to Ireland one last time before she passes. After negotiating with Fast Eddie (Beach), a local promoter, Sailor secures enough money whether or not he wins. Though a long way from his prime, Sailor convinces his old training team Brother Albright and Max (Caan and Ironside) to get into shape for the bout against a younger opponent. A local priest, Father Brennan (Coates), tries to convince Rose to have Sailor back out of the fight, to which she says it’s up to him to leave.King Solomon (Smith) is a young upcoming boxer, seeking to earn a way out of the life he’s currently in. His girlfriend Peg (Grant) tells him she’s pregnant and Solomon wants to live a life with her. Quitting his life as an adult film actor, Solomon comes back to his old boxing coach (Gossett Jr.) and promises to stick with it and begins his training for the fight with Sailor. Solomon’s mother, a drug user and alcoholic, cannot cope with her son’s wanting to leave, and like his father, believes he will be back. Leading up to the fight, Sailor, Rose, Solomon, Father Brennan, and Diane Scheuler (Janssen), a recovering alcoholic, all attempt to overcome their demons. Diane attempts to ask Sailor several times for forgiveness for what she did to Sailor, and each time he rebuffs her. As the fight commences, both fighters do not show signs of giving up out of either stubbornness or motivation. As the final round comes to open, Fast Eddie offers up a large sum of money for either man to call it quits right then and there. Neither take it up on the offer and continue the fight. When the final seconds and punches hit, Sailor remembers his tragedy in which Diane killed Sailor’s wife and children in a drunk driving accident. Never knocked down and refusing to give up, Sailor stays up as the last round closes, and the two boxers congratulate each other. King Solomon is declared the winner of the bout and each man heads to the locker room. As Diane passes by Sailor, he tells her that there may be a way that he may forgive her some time in the future.Acting-wise you get quite a lot of good people in this. James Caan, Kim Coates, Michael Ironside and Famke Janssen to name a couple. Mostly they don’t share the screen together, but you still get the gravitas a movie like this needs. It’s nice storytelling, with slowly revealing/uncovering its layers. Not really surprising in the end, but still a nice movie to watch

MV5BMTE5NDY3ODIyNV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMDk4MDM3._V1_For fans of Jay and Silent Bob, also known as Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, this movie is worth seeing as both actors appear in it.MV5BNzAxZjNjNWQtYjE1NS00YjQ2LTkyNWYtMjljYzgzMTYwMGNiXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTAxNDY0MjQ5._V1_Owen Peadman is played by Jason Mewes. Owen is a very milder version of Jay but still an intriguing character and his acting was excellent throughout the movie. From his facial expressions to his quick witted responses, Mewes does not disappoint. Throw in the few scenes with the always funny and witty Kevin Smith and you still have a good Jay and Silent Bob connection. Now let’s look at the characters of Uncle Earl Peadman played by  David Keith. David Keith has played many macho roles and seeing him play a gay man was quite different. But he played it well and by the end of the movie, you felt his character.MV5BODY2NDQyMGEtNGQwNS00OGNjLTk4ODItMTMzM2Y3ZmU5ZGNjXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMjM4MDAxODI@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,666,1000_AL_Now let’s take a look at the questionable role for Paris Hilton. First of all the role was perfect for her because she’s lived that lifestyle. I almost perceived her as wishing she was her character instead of playing it. But unfortunately that’s not true. The movie will probably get bad reviews because of her. But as a comedy, I thought the movie was witty, funny and well written with underlying twists. I recommend this movie just because you can sit back and watch it and laugh without thinking too much. A nice view after a hard day at work.

MV5BMjEzMjU0MjUzOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwODk1OTc0MTE@._V1_SX1500_CR0,0,1500,999_AL_In 1962 during the Cuban Missile Crisis a team of Canadian troops in the arctic capture three Soviet soldiers with super human abilities. They are examined but later break free and kill much of the troops stationed in the north. Fifty years later, a team of Canadian scientists discover them buried beneath the Arctic ice. They debate what to do with them but can never reach an agreement. When the soldiers are revived, they again go on a killing spree and kill much of the military and scientist personnel. Malraux walks through the wilderness after them when he stumbles across a Cree aboriginal who agrees to team up and fight these intruders to stop them from reaching south. They succeed in catching up to them and kill them after surviving many atrocities.MV5BMzUxMjcwOTgyOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMjM1MDY3MQ@@._V1_I didn’t expect to have such a good time with Ice Soldiers. The plot sounded like a hybrid between The Thing and Frankenstein, and I expected it to be a piece of crap, but it ended up being a very competent B-movie with good direction, solid performances and a good dominion over the suspense. Dominic Purcell makes a credible work in the leading role, expressing his character’s internal turbulence with his body language and his intense looks. The rest of the cast includes some famous faces from the fantastic genre (Michael Ironside, Camille Sullivan) and other ones which are unknown (like the trio of Russian super-soldiers), but they all bring conviction and enthusiasm to their characters. The special effects are sporadic and not very flamboyant; after all, this isn’t a gory film and it didn’t require any spectacular moments… just the tension of the “human hunt” in the frozen Arctic tundra, accentuated by occasional fights and a few explosions to season the recipe. I’m glad to say that that was enough for me to enjoy this amusing movie. On the negative side, the ending is kinda anti-climatic, and there are a few absurd scenes. But, for the rest, I liked Ice Soldiers pretty much, and I think it deserves a recommendation.
